Trump plays the victim card against Hispanic judge
Yahoo Politics ^ | February 28, 2016 | Michael Isikoff

Donald Trump said today he may ask the federal judge overseeing an upcoming civil fraud trial involving the now defunct Trump University to recuse himself because he is Hispanic and is therefore biased against him due to his plan to build a wall to keep out immigrants from Mexico.

Trump first raised the idea of filing a motion to recuse U.S. Judge Gonzalo Curiel during a campaign rally on Saturday in which, without mentioning him by name, the Republican candidate said the judge overseeing his case has shown “tremendous hostility” to him. “He’s Hispanic, which is fine,” Trump said.

“Why would you need to ask for a recusal and what does his ethnicity have to do with it?” moderator Chuck Todd asked Trump during an appearance on “Meet the Press” Sunday morning. “Because I think he’s been very, very unfair with us,” Trump replied. “ I think the judge has been extremely unfair. This is a case that many, many, many people said should have been thrown out on summary judgment. We have 98 percent approval. We have an A from the Better Business Bureau. “

“And you think it’s because he is Hispanic?” Todd asked. Trump’s reply: “Well because of the wall, and because of everything that’s going with Mexico and all of that, I think it’s frankly – look, this is a judge who has treated me very, very unfairly. This is a case that should have been thrown out a long time ago in the opinion of many great lawyers.”

Curiel, who was born in East Chicago, Ind., and graduated from Indiana University and Indiana University Law School, was nominated to the federal bench President Obama in 2011 – and approved by the Senate the next year by voice vote without opposition.

Yes civil law existed there in a perverted form. That’s kinda my point. As to the show trials it means that most soviet court proceedings were actually about something else. This is the basis of the trump lawsuit and the selection of THAT judge.

“You may choose to call it whiny.”

No, it screams it through my screen.

What is wrong with them???

Seriously.

They come on these threads that reveal unworthy actions by Trump and they post a bunch of stuff, none of which is a rational defense of Trump.

They defend Trump by making infantile jokes about posters or other candidates.

Who were these people before they moved to Trumpville and became mind numbed robots?

Just because the words came out of Trump’s own mouth and you heard them doesn’t make them true.

Something happened between his mouth and what you heard.

You must be mistaken.

LOL!!! He refused to play the “gotcha” game on CNN. It’s even funnier since he disavowed Duke PUBLICLY at a press conference on Friday. I love it!!!

Thanks for playing our game. Please have a very happy Super Tuesday :)

I am only posting what the Trump said on the show.

But I should have realized that this was only a game and that Trump is a better player.

What he said is very damning.

I needed to add ‘childish’ as a favorite word of Trump supporters. Sorry I missed that one.

Just because you inserted an asterisk does not make it less profane.

If you do that again, I will be forced to send you to the principal’s office.

We choose to call it factual information that should steer any reasonable voter away from Trump or at least cause them to think twice.

Who's "we"? Freepers usually speak for themselves. It's a personal responsibility conservative thing.

As for Trump, he was asked if he thought the Obama- appointee Hispanic judge in his civil trial, who he feels has been unfair to him, is biased because Trump intends to build a wall to stop illegal Mexican immigration.

That's called a real-world fair question, and Trump's answer, that he believes the judge is in fact so biased, is a totally reasonable, real-world and fairly obvious answer.

>>> He totally lies because he thinks, perhaps rightly, that the Trumpettes will protect him <<<

Sometimes I tend to think the whole process may be some sort of game or extended joke for Trump, where he wants to see how far he can go in caricaturing “conservatism” and making conservatives look stupid.

There’s plenty enough Freepers going along with the establishment without hacks flooding FR....we’re as divided here as the entire nation all on our own....they simply enhance the obvious divisions which is the agenda.

The destruction of the Gop leaves what exactly? A void which is being filled by a Demorat leaning fraud.

OK — so you have zero respect for Trump’s partisans. You are saying that they are so stupid they can’t help being taken in by a fellow who is nothing but a charlatan.
This surprises me, as I feel quite astute, actually; and I am a Trump supporter.
So, while I assume you have your reasons for supporting your best candidate, feeling quite astute about it; far be it from me to tell you that you are an ignoramus for doing so.

They look stupid all by themselves. Your Conservative Congress added $10 Trillion to the national debt.

No thanks to Washington Conservatives!

Born in East Chicago, Indiana, Curiel received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University in 1976.

Trump is an ASS of incredible proportion. He shoots off his mouth and never accepts that he's wrong about anything. If I were this judge I'd file a libel suit.

“It’s kind of funny how he can go from a bombastic fool to playing the victim in a second.”

I saw the interview. He did not play the victim, he just made the statement. The judge is an Obama appointee, and is therefore an Obama clone.
