If Donald Trump wins the presidency and succeeds in doing what he says he will do he will be assured a position in history as one of our very greatest presidents.
Wow, Albion!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Not to worry; it isn’t in my nature not to stay skeptical about political persons.
How can Trump end Obamacare if he says he will take care of all of us and make sure the government pays for the healthcare for low income people? You are aware that within the past year Trump has spoken in favor of a single payer system? Is it enough to just end the label “Obamacare’ but continue the substantive idea of it — or worse?
Limit immigration? He may really mean that one. But then again, he says he is going to take the Mexicans out and then bring them right back in. That’s strange.
Defeat ISIS? See, everyone says that. Of course they do. Who would not say that? But what experience does he have in military matters? He will be working with the same people as everyone else. Core principles, training, and judgment come in to play. Trump may be great at building Casinos and patching together ice skating rinks, but that does not mean he is a genius at military matters. He is a braggart. A legend in his own mind, and increasingly in the minds of others. There is no realistic reason to expect that he can take ISIS out any better than anyone else.
Okay.
LOL
Pax ... I advise you to be brave and patient when people confront you. Face challenges. That’s what this forum is about — uncovering the hidden truth. We cannot afford to get too invested in any one candidate.
I really want to believe in Trump myself. Heck, I wrote this vanity:
The Trump Revolution [a prediction already unfolding]
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3381137/posts
But ... many of these claims disturb me. So ... what do I do? I ask for links and convenient quotes. Takes you no time whatsoever and puts the monkey on the accuser’s back.
CatherineofAragon —
Would fund the ‘good parts’ of Planned Parenthood ...
[Please offer a link.]
Said he would ‘take care’ of women (womenâs health issues)
[Please offer a link and specific quote that bothers you about that promise.]
Supports the Patriot Act
[Not surprising to me, but when did he last say that?]
Said we should take in Syrian refugees, then flipped
[Ah ... well I can help with that. After the Paris Killings, Trump did not ‘flip’ — he made a policy decision to ban muslim immigrants. He is not a policy wonk and the outrage was ‘fresh’ to him.]
Wonât tear up the Iran deal.
[Link please.]
Says heâll deport illegals but wants to âexpediteâ bringing them back in.
[That is a valid complaint....]
“Ted Cruz: Trump Will Let Deported Immigrants Back In, I Won’t”
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3379878/posts
[I think Cruz should hound Trump about that, but it’s up to Cruz, not us.]
I will add one more — Trump is Big Ethanol.
All that said, I think Trump is going to beat Cruz in the Primary. He’s apparently a better campaigner. Just the way it is.
Thanks, Arthur. It’s very kind of you to take time to send me this good advice.
For the most part and for a long time I’ve refrained from debate because I’ve considered it a waste of my time to engage in dialogue which almost always turns into incoming shrieking decibels and name-calling.
Because I know that I don’t know everything and can learn from those who don’t share my perspective, I enjoy listening and asking questions. Seldom have I had that courtesy returned.
Thanks again, very much. I will implement this immediately. I truly appreciate your taking time to send such a thoughtful post.

The question is, why do you want to “believe in” Trump?
As Mark Levin said recently, “Conservatives, it’s time to reclaim your dignity and stop following personality cults.”
We are not liberals who are ruled by our emotions or our slavish devotion to public figures. We “believe in” God and in the principles of small government, liberty, and the Constitution. Not politicians.
To say that Trump is a better campaigner than Cruz is to show that you are 100% ignorant of Cruz and how he campaigns. It’s nothing short of laughable.
I just saw last night that Trump is big ethanol, and I, too, think that Trump will win the first primary. His appeal is phenomenal.
Conservatives are sick of losing. We do not like to sink with flags flying! Such idiolical notions are plum foolish. We want to jump on the band wagon of a winner—for a change. Cruz has no chance of winning on a national stage—too much bagage, too young, too many enemies. They will call him “Mr. Canada” or “Mr. Shut down America for his ego” or even “Mr. Tea Party Bigot” This is not his time. I don’t think USA is really ready for an Old School Conservative—not now. Trump is better—Now is he a conservative (Maybe in part)? I think not in the Reagan sort of way. He is a confirmed Capitalist—More Old school New York Republican than Reaganite. Is he what we need now—after decades of Progressives? YES! Is Trump Perfect? No, will he repaint the White House collumns gold? Maybe. Will he serve one term—that’s my guess with a rocky first year. But, in the end —he will leave the USA in better shape than he found it.
“...missing a lack of humility and self reflection.”
We don’t need humility in our President. Any prior presidents whom we perceive as having had humility probably didn’t, really. (Only a massive ego would take a person that far.) Feigned humility is just that — feigned. We need a bold, audacious, kick-ass alpha male to take the reins. (And be great.)
I’d say that Trump has extreme self reflection. Making decisions to leave the Dem party, becoming pro-life, etc., most likely were made as a result of general reflection and self reflection.
I've heard that from various Trump supporters. One of them told me winning is the only principle he cares about. Yet electing a progressive is not a win, but a disaster.
We only win when we go with the Constitutional conservative.
" Such idiolical notions are plum foolish."
I don't know what "idiolical" is, so I have no idea how to respond.
" We want to jump on the band wagon of a winnerâfor a change."
In other words, you want to sell out your principles to elect a progressive, and you somehow think all of that would be good for the country. If you're foolish enough to do it, that's your business, but you can't claim the label of conservative any longer.
" Cruz has no chance of winning on a national stageâtoo much bagage, too young, too many enemies."
Complete and total BS.
Study after study shows that he's the only one who can beat Hillary. The press is going easy on Trump now because he brings ratings, but if he were the nominee, all hell would break loose. And Trump, being a progressive sleaze, has an extensive amount of material to work with.
Cruz's enemies are the GOPe, the establishment, and liberals. Aren't those the right enemies to have? Or are you also willing to buy into the stupidity that we need to reach across the aisle and get along?
" They will call him âMr. Canadaâ or âMr. Shut down America for his egoâ or even âMr. Tea Party Bigotâ"
So you want to let the media pick our candidates for us? And do you really think they're going to let ANY Republican nominee go unscathed?
Cruz has the intelligence and the ability to shut them down, as he always does. Trump will rail and yell and flail.
" This is not his time. I donât think USA is really ready for an Old School Conservativeânot now."
When will they "be ready?" When the country is so far gone that it's beyond recovery?
You're no conservative. You're someone who's fallen so deep into a cult of personality that you'll do anything to have your Trump around to worship and fawn over. I have nothing but contempt for you.
" Trump is betterâNow is he a conservative (Maybe in part)? I think not in the Reagan sort of way. He is a confirmed CapitalistâMore Old school New York Republican than Reaganite. Is he what we need nowâafter decades of Progressives? YES! Is Trump Perfect? No, will he repaint the White House collumns gold? Maybe. Will he serve one termâthatâs my guess with a rocky first year. But, in the end âhe will leave the USA in better shape than he found it."
Trump is a lifelong progressive sleazebag and I won't support him under any circumstances.
‘To say that Trump is a better campaigner than Cruz is to show that you are 100% ignorant of Cruz and how he campaigns. Itâs nothing short of laughable.’
Trump is not just campaigning against Cruz. He is also campaigning against Hillary. How’s she doing these days?
He’s also campaigning against the Euro-Tyrant Establishment. How are they getting along with their peon-citizens these days?
He’s also campaigning against Sanctuary Cities. How is SanFransisco politics these days?
Sorry you misunderstood me:
‘I, too, think that Trump will win the first primary. His appeal is phenomenal.’
[unquote]
Nope, as much as I admire his campaigning skill — it is ‘macro/national’ rather than ‘micro/local’.
I did not say Trump would win the first primary or the Iowa Straw Poll.
In fact, even though I’m inclined toward Trump, I hope Cruz wins in Iowa because he is going against the grain by taking on Big Ethanol.
Well said.
Cruz would be destroyed by the Liberal and GOP establishment and the media. They would call him every name in the book and his response would be...
"I'm not a racist, allow me to explain why..... Exhibit A....."
It's the same tired old failed strategy that Republicans have used to defend themselves against Liberal venom.
It wouldn't work. Cruz would be marginalized within 6 months IF he even won the election in the first place.
Good observation about the country not being ready for a hard core Conservative. I think that's true.
America has been ruled by Liberalism for so long that it has forgotten about Conservatism.
Your new thread reminded me of this one which I posted last January.
We’re blessed to live in a time to watch a great president making history.
