On May 1, Jill Dyche was filming dogs at the Carson Animal Shelter in California when she heard a dog crying. When she found the 9 year old Doberman, she saw that his owner was surrendering him.
Jill captured the Dobie’s heartbreak on video and shared it on Facebook. It soon went viral.

Jill asked the 9 year-old pup’s owner why he was leaving him behind. He said that “he’s not as active as he used to be.†No one knows what this lovable boy’s name really is because his owner left before Jill could get it.
The shelter has renamed him Tyson and his story is already on its way to a happy ending.
After only two days, and thousands of Facebook views, Tyson was taken in by a foster family. After getting him to the vet, they discovered that the Dobie has a spinal condition and will need extensive medical care.
Turned out OK, on the way to adoption and care for spinal condition as per link. Blessing in disguise perhaps.
No way can I watch this..,in fact, I need to forget that I even read about it.
Heartbreaking.
He was discovered to have a spinal condition, you cretin. You could've paid to have him put down before you abandoned him and displayed your inhumanity before the entire world.
Loyalty is supposed to be a two way street.Dumping the dog at the shelter because”he’s not as active as he used to be”is reprehensible.
Same kind of person who can’t wait to put their parents in a home.
Society is getting worse and I’m sick of the way things are trending.

It’s a shame how many congenital conditions are bred into dog breeds.
I wish dogs could DUMP their humans in garbage cans when they find them NOT useful...or abusive.
“Crying”? It doesn’t seem like the dog cared for the human one bit — I didn’t hear a peep out of him when he took off. I expected to see a distraught animal.
I think the guy said it was his son’s dog, so maybe he was like a stranger to the dog. Pretty bad that his son didn’t drop him off or even come to the shelter.
Pretty crappy people to abandon a nine year old dog like that, but they probably knew they were facing extraordinary vet bills for the spinal problem. Maybe they simply couldn’t afford the bills.
Hip dysplasia is common to a lot of large breeds.
My German Shepherd’s gene testing was positive for it.
So its not like I’m not prepared for it.
Sometimes you just can’t afford to give your dog the quality of life he deserves.
And you have to do the right thing even if it leaves both of you heartbroken.
We just spent $4500 on our dog. I know a lot of people won’t do that but we could afford it and she’s part of the family.
Nine years is old for a Doberman. They don’t normally live all that long.
The owner probably didn’t have the money for medical expenses.
Indeed. I guess the dog is lucky in a way, he was NOT eaten by the previous owner (cultural thing).
He is fostered and needs donations to treat the medical condition that apparently caused his “not as active” condition.

There are legitimate reasons why older dogs are surrendered to a shelter. It doesn’t mean those owners are cruel and heartless.
