ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

And I’m just about ready to call it a day, here in the Southwest desert.

My attention begins to wander about this time and I can’t seem to get things together. The GOOD news is that my iherb.com order will be here Friday. For some reason, I ran out of EVERYTHING by Sunday! I know there aren’t more that 31 days in most months, so where did the stuff go? *groan*

Anyway, I’m outta here. Hope the evening is kind to all of you!

"I have always ben wildly unhappy with how my clutziness has contributed to significant bloodletting over the years."

I don't bleed much. But I try to avoid testing it often.

Hope you have a good night. I have church meetings. Bill the Son will be handling the swim team transportation. As long as he gets Frank safely home, I don’t care if the others have to walk ;-).

The weekend was nice. We helped the in-laws put their boat in the water for a bit of a to around and listened to my F-I-L pretend he can hear us when we ask him questions. But the actual holiday was taken up with a dog who decide to take revenge on us for leaving her with a serious case of the runs.

She’s still making us suffer. I hope we don’t have to go to the vet. They’re expensive up here.

The only good thing about my relationship with all objects sharp is that my wife doesn’t ask me to help much in the kitchen. She objects to the unexpected protein additions.

Just classify it as a nutritional supplement. Plus iron.

Not a good idea. Someone might get used to the taste and find it savory.

Twilight movies notwithstanding, having your significant other develop a hungry look for the wrong reason could be a little off-putting.

I hate when critters do that! And it seems, once it stats, it’s on automatic pilot from that point on. Cheese. Lots of cheese.

Still, it would be nice to have a critter around me without my lungs objecting so strenuously. I miss the snuggly furry dependency.

(My pinkie itches.)

Awww....me and my shadow!

I’m off to Wally’s in a few. I’m all out of yogurt and rice pudding and milk, so I need to load up on those items, if nothing else.

It’s supposed to be 102 today and 107 by Sunday, so my power bill is going to go through the roof for this cycle. Dang. They keep making my grant smaller, which makes me pay more and that takes away from other bills and food.

I just called my son and wished him a happy birthday. He asked me if I felt old. When I asked him why I should, he said, “For having a 52 year old son!” I told him I was too young for that and therefore, he wasn’t that old! ;o]

"On this day in 1840, novelist Thomas Hardy was born in this picturesque Dorset cottage. Built of cob and thatch by Hardy’s grandfather, little has been altered since the family left. It was here that Hardy wrote his early short stories, poetry and novels including ‘Far from the Madding Crowd.’"

Morning All. :)

I'm in a good mood today....let's see how hard the day works on changing that.

I think they shot an episode of “Midsomer Murders” there. Charming place, except for the dismembered corpses ...
