ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

Tom is too big for any chair of yours. He needs to realize he’s not dainty.

Hopefully, you will find the right chair, just in time for your birthday. :o]

It’s supposed to be in the upper 80s here today. I’m not feeling very well and am looking forward to naptime.

I was going to take Tom to get his glasses repaired, but the optometrist closes at 12:00, which is ten minutes from now.

I’m sorry you’re feeling puny. This is the first day in almost two weeks that I’ve felt half-way normal. So, with luck, tomorrow I will sweep and mop the floors and vacuum. That will be a relief! They have needed it for quite a while.

I hope you feel better after your nap!

It was a modified panopticon design, linear rather tha circular, with no direct windows to the cells, as in the circular model. Quite a bit of theater in the whole procession at entry and stay meant to instill dispair and compliance. No prospect for the prisoner to even contemplate digging through the stone walls just beyond his reach from the totally steel lined cell block.

The central building designed in that manner. High open space with a central interior tower. capped by an over hanging guard/observation post. Free of the exterior load bearing stone walls.

Exterior fenestration only appeared to relate to building storeys. The Panopticon had a clear view of the stacked steel back to back cell block tiers in the hollow wings. Think lab rat cages stacked in long block.

The cell blocks had longitudinal walkways on either side facing the exterior walls but unconnected to them. Guards had a clear view down each walkway aisle.

Steam radiators spotted at several levels were mounted on the stone walls.

At the time of admission the shackled prisonor was admitted through the central building entry and walked to the single piece of furniture, the desk attended by a warder. The facts of life and rules of conduct were explained to him and record process and health check occurred IIRC at that time.

The total hard dark and vast space was expressly designed to overcow the prisoner, proof that he was destined for hard dark time in a hard place at the hands of hard men and that interior reflection and repentance was a very good idea. Doubt that being a facility for defective delinquents, that many were released. Don’t recall when it was given over to an an adult male population.

Whenever I am feeling the least bit normal I lie down until the feeling passes.

That WOULD be messed up.

They haven't locked up enough of those defective youths..

Napanoch, NY, maybe two miles north of Ellenville. The slammer for defective yutes is across the Rondout Creek from US 209 and down the road a piece from the Ulster Correctional Facility in close proximity to the semivisible remnants of the Delaware and Hudson Canal...

Napanoch: A dry section of bed is located between Eastern Correctional Facility and the Rondout, right next to the old Ontario and Western railroad station.

Of course we have the Otisville Fed and its neighboring NY State equivalent (a converted tuberculosis sanitarium) up the road a piece from us..

I like to feel normal every once in a while, as opposed to the way I feel most of the time. I’m like A B Normal.

In other news, I saw a robin this morning! They aren’t too common here, but I’ve seen one the last few years. I always looked for them when I was a kid, growing up in Central Utah.

So now, I know that spring is almost here! Next week will be spring and then we have five months of summer. YAY!!!!

Forgot that Naponoch was the official name. Ellenville stuck in my mind as the drive destination from Manhattan.

That was the first time I became aware that inmates were provided with weight training equipment. Same day that I decided NY state government and courts were irrevocably insane.

When I look at what’s becoming normal in America, normal is the last thing I want to be.

Yep...see? That’s me. I don’t want to be today’s normal. I want to be what’s normal for me. Whatever that is...

Didn’t help.

Good morning. It would be nice to sleep without getting up a bazillion times, but if I do this long enough, I’ll just wear me little self out and won’t have a choice but to conk out for six hours.

For the last three days, a migraine has been trying to overtake me and it looks like today is going to be the day it finally blooms into a full-on nightmare. *groan*

How are you feeling this morning?
