ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

Ellenville, near the home of 19th century State Institution for Male Defective Delinquents", designed on the Panopticon principle. Grim place at the time as it was meant to be.

Mid 70's firm I worked for submitted proposal for campus style satellite pods under Correction Dept. program requirements. One of those projects shelved during downturn in economy.

Now, it appears to be a sprawling max security complex, The Eastern Correctional Facility.

Morning all and thanks for the good wishes re: flu. Hibernating under covers these past days. Snappish, bear...

Throw in some garlic laden chicken stock and you've got a fine vaporizer.

BTW, that wasabi, cayenne, vodka conconction was the base for a Japanese version of a Bloody Mary, sans the red stuff and veggies, darn versatile and volatile mix. Takashimaya guys knew how to party after work.

Back to the cave now.

I like the part where the one on the right smacks the one next to him.

LOL! I don’t know which post to comment on first! Lots of funny and interesting stuff this morning, and just in time to wake me up before I go shower.

We had about an hour’s worth of thunder and rain last night around 1800, but I was tired enough I could have slept through it, but for the pain in my right leg. When I finally fell asleep, it woke me up periodically, so though I slept fairly well, I was still aware of the pain. I hate when I do that!

So I’m going to go shower and then maybe go to Wally’s.

Morning! We’re going to the library in about half an hour, with a stop at the ATM to deposit checks.

I gave Jake new catnip in his catnip mouse this morning. Now he’s hugging it and waiting for the sunbeam to hit his bed.

LOL! Some cats just love catnip. I had one that turned his nose up at it.

The more I see my hair, the less I like it. It’s a very dowdy style, and with my gray hair, it looks terrible. Like an old woman trying to look young. GAH!

My foot hurts. I think I’ll go out and walk and stand on it all day.

Let’s see if that helps.

Ohnoes!

Then we can call you, “He Who Limps,” and if your other foot begins to hurt while you are walking on the first, we can call you, “He Who Limps Twice.”

There. All better? ;o]

And I’m off to Wally’s

I thought the Panopticon principle required a circular structure with the guards in the center and every cell facing (open to) their view?

I was feeling a little under the weather the other day. I showed my germs the results from Tuesday’s primaries. I was amazed at how loudly germs can scream. Anyway, they fled quickly.

Sorry about your foot, germs, and haircut.

We went to the library. Then we went to Consignment 1st, where I didn’t find the chair for my 50th birthday. Maybe next time ...

How dare they not have a chair for your birthday?? *gasp*

The sun is shining in my window and that’s nice. The weather has been so gloomy, lately, and will be gloomy again tomorrow.

I still need to put gas in the truck, but I think it can wait another day. And I will have to wait a few days more to take it to the car wash. I don’t want to do it again after the next rain!

Once they had a chair I liked, but I decided not to get it, because what’s the point if Tom the Son is going to sit on it? However, once I get the chair for my 50th birthday (which is not until July), then I will evict Tom the Son if he sits on it.

As long as I don’t catch whatever you and Nully have/had.

We have a fresh dusting of snow on Mt Charleston and on the Sheep Range, so the rain is very good, but we are still below what we need.

The humidity was 84% when I got up this morning, but with luck that will be a nice 12% by day’s end. ;o]
