Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
....Im all about self protection. Im a ol lady, y know!......
Yeah, I’ve read a bit of American History.
A group of American Pensioners Held off half of the Mexican Army at the Alamo.
Yeah.
:)
Moosie, American history is full of pensioners who were just doing what they thought was right.
My dad (rest his soul) was, at the age of five, a drummer for the calvary that helped to settle the valley that I grew up in.
I think the humour component may have attenuated in transit. Never mind, it happens.
Need to go, getting late. G,night. :)
Thank you for attending to that, but what did you do with the darkness?
Tom’s soul ...
Stunned by the sudden discovery of yarn, yards and yards of yarn. Is mine, all mine!
Kitteh plans a happy day.
Interesting point. I would not have thought of that.
I’m, sorry Moosie, but I was getting tired when I posted that last, and I apologize for sounding so testy. I read my last post to you and felt awful.
So I will flog myself with some corned beef and cabbage today. With onions, taters and carrots. It will take all day to cook. Well, seven hours, anyway, in the crock pot!
I will start that in a few minutes. I would have done it yesterday, but my company is coming today. ;o]
And all I saw were whiskers and a pair of bright eyes! My bad.
where wired handsets go to die....
WOW. I was thinking of the plant that my mother called a “Rose of Sharon,” and one thing it isn’t is a hibiscus. There are also briar roses and wild roses that she pointed out to me while I was growing up, but in all my travels, I have seen neither.
But, as it has been stated, a rose, by any other name...
Did your daffodils survive the hard freeze, last night?
Back from Elen’s admissions advising appointment. If I graduate her from high school, she can take the remedial math session she needs next month, and then she can take a full schedule of real college coursework in the fall. I’ll take her diploma and transcript over on Monday.
Wow. Another fledgling ready to meet the world head on! Is she excited?
The corned beef brisket is cooking with all the vegetables but the cabbage, and I will cook that later. I hate soggy cabbage!
The house is clean and I’m beat up. This is going to be a non-stop weekend, so I will take a nap in a bit and wait for the arrival of “Bruthie.”
For some reason, I was really sweating after I had my shower, and I hate that. It seems feeling clammy is who I am.
It’s 60 degrees out, and it is supposed to be up to 83 today. YAY!!! Maybe in a couple of weeks, I can put away my winter clothes. (I suspect it will take me that long to recuperate from cleaning and traveling for seven days in a row...)
I found some chicken enchiladas at Smith’s the other day, for $1.99 instead of $4.99, and those things are HUGH!!! One is enough for two meals for me, so I gave one to Charlie. I cut the other in half and had it for my lunch.
I think she’s looking forward to it. I’ll have to try to work out registration for her and Tom in the fall so they can ride together. Bill the Student Prince will have his own transportation by then, even if it’s a 1994 PairOfFeet.
I told her I’d asked Bill if he’s ever sent a picture of his personal anatomy to a young lady, and she nearly passed out laughing. (Fortunately I was driving.) It’s a thing, according to a book I just read.
It would be nice to have rides coordinated, with three kids having college classes.
The Student Prince should have his own transportation, anyway, what with a Job and all. I mean, maybe he’ll learn to be Responsible. Maybe?
I can’t imagine getting a picture of someone’s anatomy on my phone. THAT would be hilarious! The Japanese are masters of miniaturization... ;o]
You’re looking to put away your winter clothes and I’m looking at a snow forecast.
