Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
I got the trash put out but too late for today’s pick-up. They won’t be here again until Tuesday. Ungh.
It’s odd, but the finger I tried to amputate yesterday doesn’t hurt as bad as the one I just allowed to live the day before. Go figger.
And I just made some coffee. Some days, it smells better than it tastes, and I don’t understand that.
I dread the time change, but there is only one clock in the house that I have to manually re-set, and that’s the one in front of the TV in the living room. There are too other battery operated clocks, but I don’t touch them, so one is always right and one is always wrong. :o]
Thankfully, I was brought up in a house where puns were part of a normal conversation, and the older I got, the more I laughed. Of course, Nully is good at that word play, too. I found that out when he was here to be my driver when I had my first cataract surgery. It was fun! ;o] I felt at home.
Coffee. Must get coffee.
I have a Keurig, and I use Yuban Gold. Or Café Bustelo. So coffee is available any time. I also have some caramel and some vanilla coffees, but I don’t care for them too much. And, of course, the ol’ stand-by Gevalia with it’s café latte. THAT is a disappointment, this time through.
So if you drink a lot of coffee, a lot of coffee will be available...
I was thinking next time I’m near a CB&TL I need to stock up.
We decided to leave the park when Kathleen got off the merry-go-round while it was going. She can have a bath after lunch. The mother of one of the toddlers wanted Sally for a regular babysitter, but they live too far away.
Isn’t there one here? Yep. Lots of them. The closest is six miles West, but easy to get to from here.
Never heard of it.
I got Kathleen a new bathing suit. She’s insisting on wearing it!
It’s overcast, but not cold, even though it IS windy. The wind is going to be with us for a few days. (Spring in So NV)
I just had a fried egg on rye with Swiss cheese, and it wasn’t too bad, for a spur of the moment snack.
I need to take some more Benedryl and see if that stops my drippy nose. I hate that. In a while, I’ll go out and sit with the peeps. Depending on who’s there, I may or may not stay long after the mail comes, but that’s ok. I have things here I need to do.
Some of those folks I can only take in small doses.
Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf stores. They are fairly large, with 19 locations here in the Valley.
I’ve never been in there, but I understand they have some really good stuff!
I look for the cheap coffee, trying not to buy the high priced stuff while still getting a GOOD cup of coffee. I don’t like it once it has been sitting on a hot burner, and have always shut off the maker when the coffee was done. It tastes almost fresh-brewed if you microwave it later on.
I’ve been buying Great Value ground coffee in the largest possible tin, for the lowest possible price per ounce.

Two Trash pickups a week!
Wow.
That would be good, but I have a small Keurig. I kept throwing coffee out by the potful, and decided that was too wasteful.
This way, I only make enough to drink at one sitting. Cheaper for me because I don’t always drink coffee.
It’s commercial property. Private property only gets trash pick-ups once a week.
Totally off-topic, but our St. Patrick’s Day parade will be in downtown Henderson tomorrow. It’s always a HUGH celebration and the biggest one this side of Chicago. “They” say.

Here on this side of the pond, we respect the Brit-humor guys more than we probably should.

We have one of those four-cup Mr. Coffee percolators that used to populate hotel rooms across the country. I can half-load it and brew just two cups, so we get fresh brew without waste. this may not be a reproducible solution, though.
I had to replace the glass pot a couple of months ago and found the things aren’t in production anymore. Happily, walking through Rite-Aid looking for something else, I found ONE — just ONE — 4-cup Mr. Coffee brewer on the shelf; new in the box. Perhaps the last one on Earth to be had at retail. We keep it sequestered in the adults-only zone and guard it like the Crown Jewels of England.
Tom the Son is home from Spring Break in western Virginia. He said they did some outdoorsiness stuff, but they didn’t go horseback riding because it was too expensive or to Monticello, ditto.
He brought Kathleen a silver bracelet with a purple glass cabochon. Only $8, he said, but it’s very tasteful and she can wear it the rest of her life once she gets past breaking and losing everything.
