Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
Does it really make sense for a Brit to be discussing taxes with an American?

Not really. Weird dreams about dragons in a bar. I thought they were iguanas at first, but they had wings and were covered with fur.
My only negative on Gander Mountain is that the only one in driveable distance is a nominal 11ish miles away in New York with its 8.875% sales tax on everything under the sun including clothes and shoes.
Not PA where the tax is 6%.
Or NJ where the tax is 7%.
The state line for either is a nominal 11ish miles away and neither state taxes clothes and shoes..
But even as sucky as the Cuomo Empire’s tax is, it’s not 20%..
NYC doesn’t charge tax on food unless it’s packaged for immediate consumption. It doesn’t charge tax on clothing unless it’s expensive clothing. (I don’t know whre Magic Johnson shoes or whatnot fit on that scale.) Is NYS different?
On the food thing, if I go to the nearby 7-11 and get a candy bar, I’ll pay tax. But if I get a package of trail mix I won’t.
So I should change the first statement to NYC doesn’t charge tax on food unless it does.
Or something like that.

That is correct about food. As to the clothes and shoe thing, some time back they did a sales tax amnesty on clothes and shoe sales under $100. I thought that it was only for those bordering counties that were loosing sales to neighboring states due to the oppressive tax scheme left by Former Emperor Cuomo, and was a ‘temporary’ thing to see if it made any difference. (Must have worked wonders since the K-Mart closed on the NY side of the Delaware and relocated to the PA side five miles away.. ;-) I was under the impression that ‘amnesty’ was done for but I could be wrong on that. Out of general principles and the sure knowledge that the bordering states don’t tax those items no matter what the price, I refuse to buy those items in NY state.
Correct that line to read: “New York with its 8.875% sales tax on ALMOST everything under the sun including clothes and shoes.
It’s because Romney has such a, um, winning reputation..
I spent some time at the ramada with my peeps, and one of them bought some beer. Hahaha!
One of my neighbors thought I was really funny, blaming it on the beer, and not realizing I really AM funny with the right people to bounce the jokes off of! :o]
I bought a padlock for my gate, and it’s on there, now. I’m trying to decide whether to lock it during the day when I leave, or just at night, since it seems someone likes to “visit” my patio at night.
That Berta person is really getting ugly. I’m concerned by her actions, but I don’t know if anyone else is. She’s already had two complaints put in on her, and I’m thinking she needs at least another, because she is stalking her ex-boyfriend and confronting the woman he is helping. This woman is a tiny, frail “Pilipina,” who can’t stick up for herself even under the best of circumstances.

I’m funny with Tom. The cashier in Walmart this afternoon couldn’t quite figure us out.
I don’t suppose you can do anything much about Berta unless you personally witness something illegal or obviously dangerous.
I saw her confront little Imelda yesterday, and there were three other people who witnessed it, as well. What’s worse, Berta confronted Imelda again, later in the day, with no less that two witnesses.
I tried to tell Zeke that he needs to make note of the stalking (of him) and the confrontations (other people) and begin to keep a record.
Now she has found a new victim; a woman who just got out of the hospital with a bout of pancreatitis, and no one seems to realize what a threat Berta is. I just don’t understand the mind-set of people who seem to think Berta is harmless, even when they have seen her harass other people.
*sheesh*
I’m just waiting for a chance to write her up for bullying Imelda. That poor little woman is so ill, and doesn’t understand why Berta is so nasty to her.
I can understand that about you and Tom, and that’s pretty cool!
But Mrs. NoC asked, "If we do, how are we going to get up in it?"
She has a point there.. ;-)
