Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

Our trash didn’t get picked up today. They must be a day behind on the schedule because of the weather over the weekend.
Trash collectors are one of the few groups of government workers or contractors who realize that delaying their work only causes it to increase. They, at least, are motivated to getting the job done!
Weather permitting, of course.

Trash is collected here on the days it is scheduled, holiday or not. I guess we are fortunate to not have snow, ice or massive flooding to deal with, unlike other parts of the country.
And they get paid about $30 an hour.

In the case of our boys, handling the weather goes with the job. It can be pretty tough getting the snow cleared when a big pile of snow turns out to be a little pile of snow on a big pile of trash.
But these guys do it. And during snow operations they do it in 12 hour shifts.
I’m not sure why Queens’ roads aren’t clear yet - snow’s melting everywhere. But it isn’t because the guys aren’t working their tails off.
One year I took my kids over to Steps on Broadway then went out to pick up the lunches. When I got back my wife told me the reason there was such a huge crowd watchin Studio 1 was because Baryshnikov was in there taking class. He was in his 60s. She said he was frustrated at what he couldn’t do anymore and the watchers were amazed at what he could still do.
I’m sorry I missed it.
I read over my posts from yesterday, and I get more disgusted by the minute.
Yes, it is. When I say my evening prayers, I thank the Lord for the hard, disappointing, frustrating things that happened during the day, as they teach me the blessing of easy, rewarding and bright things to come.
Our garbage trucks work 24-7. It has to work that way with casinos on every corner.
I remember when Baryshnikov defected, and I really wanted to see him perform. I saw him in a movie, once, and I can’t remember what the name was. Just that part of it was set in Paris. I guess if I were really curious, I would check imDb.
