Pope Francis made a thinly-veiled swipe at Donald Trump as the Pontiff defended Latino immigrants who came to America at 'great personal cost' during a moving speech to 40,000 followers in Philadelphia.
Francis called on migrants from Mexico and the rest of the world to 'not feel discouraged by all the challenges and hardships' they face, saying they should never feel ashamed of their own traditions.
The Pope's words come in direct contrast to Trump's calls for a wall to be built along the Mexican border and for stricter controls on who can enter the US.
Speaking from the lectern used by President Abraham Lincoln when he delivered the Gettysburg Address, Francis directly addressed America's Hispanic population, saying: 'Thank you for opening the doors. Many of you have emigrated. I greet you with my heart.
'Many of you came to this country at great personal cost, but in the hope of building a new life. Do not feel discouraged by all the challenges and hardships you might face. I ask you not to forget that, like those who came here before you, you bring many gifts to this new nation of yours.
'Please: do not feel ever ashamed of your traditions.'

Hopefully Trump will advise Comrade Pope to contact the Argentina government and have them accept all those “migrants”.
Badge of Honor
These guys always want the good ole USA to open its borders and take care of everyone.
Meanwhile, the prez, the pope, most of the Congresscritters, etc., live in gated communities, behind walls, have armed guards.
Hypocrites.
He preaches in defense of religious freedom...only hours after praising his Muslim “brothers and sisters” who are responsible for the greatest religious persecution in the last hundred years.
Yes, I am saying that by the time this plays out, if we don’t do anything, the Muslim destruction of anyone that disagrees with them will be worse than even the holocaust.
Yet the Pope says nothing about them.
And he says nothing about the perversion that is taking over America (same-sex marriage, transgenerism, etc.), all considered an abomination to God.
On these, the Pope is silent.
Because he wants asses in the pews, and he will pander to those asses as long as they are throwing cash in the plate.
Apparently he is condoning theft, despite that “Thou shalt not steal” line in the OT.
I believe it was limited to young boys. Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark.
We should deliver the illegal immigrants to Cuba.
I’m Catholic. Haven’t followed him once on TV.
Should be talking about having kids out of wedlock, adultery, abortion, gay marriage, the sickness of transgenderism, treatment of Christians in muslim countries.
My priest talks about this stuff. But I live in a conservative area. Not that that should matter.
He should, the Pope has a treasure trove. LOL
Maybe he could tell the Pope “you’re fired”!
“...you bring many gifts to this new nation of yours.”

This thread needs a barf alert.
It’s not THEIR nation, popey dopey, it is OUR nation.
As for those “gifts,” yeah, 25 Americans killed every day from illegal alien murders, drunk driving, etc.
Hundreds of billions of dollars a year paid by U.S. taxpayers to pay for their medical costs, to jail them in city, county, state and federal prisons; the cost of trying to educate their children; welfare, EBT cards, Section 8 housing, etc. etc. It just goes on and on.
Build the wall. Good fences make good neighbors.
When he starts welcoming muslims into his enclave, I will listen to him.
He should be deported.
I never thought that I’d live to see a “bad” Pope—but this one sure seems misguided, at best.
We were watching for a few minutes today.
It was like Popestock.
I was expecting a strung out cardinal to advise us not to eat the brown communion wafers.
Where is it stated that any country, especially the United States, should have total open borders for anyone to cross?
It’s nice the Pope lives in such a like The Vatican, that allows no one in and has such a cushy lifestyle. Yet he comes here to denigrate our country, our way of life, our air conditioning, and our capitalism from which he and the church have benefited.
So he can take his gross rank Hypocrisy and Mendacity and hit the road.
Matthew 22:21
Has the guy in the funny white had read the Bible? 'cuz I haven't, and I knew about that quote.
One time I would welcome a few zingers from Trump in the direction of this lost soul.
I don’t know. I wonder about that quite often. I can only speak for myself, but I welcome legal immigrants. People who come here wanting to be AMERICANS. In all the heated talk about illegals, the legal ones get overlooked.
I work with a fellow born in Poland. He came here when he was a teen and is now in his forties. Hwouldn’t a lot of American history, how our government was formed and how it operates. He loves being American. He shakes his head in disgust at the growing hate of the left towards the country. He always says these complainers wouldn’t believe what it’s really like living under the kind of government they think they want.
I don’t believe this pope is well-informed on what we are fighting for or against.
We’ll fly them to Vatican City, Pontiff.
You’re welcome.
