GOP Legislators Concerned About Loans Made By Walker's WEDC
5/22/2015 | Matthew Defour

Posted on 06/06/2015 9:20:00 AM PDT by conservativejoy

There has been a complete dismissal by some that the dubious management of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp, created by Gov. Scott Walker has led to a new investigation. Characterized a " partisan witch hunt" by his defenders, the reality is that GOP legislators have serious concerns about how unsecured loans were made and never repaid. In addition, GOP prosecutors, as well as the bypartisan audit team, soundly refute that dismissal. GOP legislators removed Walker as Chairman of the WEDC earlier this week.

Here is a link to an article outlining GOP concerns on one of those loans, which is the current focus of the investigation.

Gov. Scott Walker, an otherwise accomplished Conservative, appears increasingly cornered by the growing WEDC scandal ...

Of course, the $ 100 million dollar question is whether Jeb Bush, Karl Rove, Hillary Clinton & Jeb Bush (not a typo) have "unleashed the political dogs of war" upon Scott Walker ...

What's your take ?

Where there’s smoke there is usually fire. Not always but usually. Better to find out now than after the guy gets nominated and then smeared to defeat by the Dems. Maybe this is why Walker has not yet announced.

We have better candidates that don’t have any taint to them.

I have linked to articles on liberal sites that are also reporting the WEDC issue. I like to read the comments. The consensus is that this should be timed to do the maximum damage, like if Walker is on the ticket. Once that happens, it is too late.

With Republicans in Wisconsin taking him off the chairmanship of the WEDC I think your assumption is probably right. I think they’re going after Walker to take him down, and they got the Republican legislators in Wisconsin to do their dirty work. Not that the governor is completely without blame, but the fact the state GOP turned on him that fast is pretty fishy to me.

The comments on liberal sites linked to various articles are very revealing. The left is timing the blow up of this in the hope it can deal a lethal blow if Walker is on the ticket. They don’t want to inflict the real damage until it’s too late.

As for Rove, I think he is supporting Walker. American Crossroads, his Super Pac, gave millions to Walker’s Governor’s race. As you know, it has been reported that they are talking once again to the Walker Presidential campaign. Expect to hear more about this once Walker announces.

The article appears to use as its prime example of corruption a $500,000 loan that supposedly went bad. Pretty rough. Although in perspective, it appears to be bull crap. Wisconsin has a state budget of about $35,000,000,000 per year.

1% of that budget is $350 million dollars.

The BIG DEAL of this paragraphs-long "journalistic" endeavour is a $500,000 loan.

How much is $500K? Well, it is a FRACTION of 1% of the entire state budget.

So. If the BEST this "journalist" Matthew DeFour can come up with is a problem with a fraction of 1% of the budget and trumpet it as a major problem, then I am pleased that Walker is considering a run for the presidency.

I am equally pleased that the Republicans in Wisconsin care enough about this fiscal minutiae to consider reforming it.

When was the last time you heard about Democrats caring enough about welfare abuse that they wanted to fix it?

Answer: Never.

Matthew DeFour, the writer of this piece, claims to be non-partisan.

You’re absolutely right. What burns me alive is we have a Democrat candidate who’s a million times more corrupt than Walker and Richard Nixon combined, and while she’s getting some scrutiny it’s hardly on the level that Walker is getting now for the WEDC. Don’t count on even Ted Cruz getting by without a ton of dirt thrown on him by the liberal maggots and the RINOS aiding and abetting them.

Actually, millions of dollars in unsecured loans given to Walker donors through WEDC is the bigger issue. These loans were not paid back. Many of them were written off and no longer are reflected in the “outstanding loans” total. This is the tip of the iceberg.

Only Democrats would have the gall to cast stones at anyone else when Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt human being on the planet.

You really think Walker is the one that Rove wants to support? He’s playing subterfuge and confusing everyone. The man that he and his organization want is Marco Rubio. They know Bush is going to have trouble with the GOP electorate. The establishment wants the Hispanic vote desperately, and a Spanish-speaking moderate from Florida is far more attractive than a white bread candidate from the midwest. Maybe you should aim your fire at Marco Rubio too. In the end I believe we have far more to fear from him than Scott Walker. I could be wrong but I think Rove is behind the dirty work on WEDC. Watch out for the hit job they’ll ultimately do on Ted Cruz and make no mistake Rove will have his fingerprints on that too!

I have subscribed to a Wisconsin newspaper to follow what’s going on up there. There have been rumblings of discontent between Walker and the GOP legislators for a while now. One thing they have complained about is bills that they have passed sit on his desk for weeks before he signs them. Walker likes to schedule signing events for photo ops. I’ve never heard him give the legislature any credit for those bills.

For instance, the legislature just passed another key bill that moves things forward in the “Right to Work “ issue. While Walker has been on a trip to Israel, a motorcycle tour, a trip to Canada and various campaign events all at the Wisconsin taxpayers expense, they have been plugging away back at home on this legislation.

If Walker continues his standard M.O., he will schedule a photo op/ signing event and take all the credit.

Without a doubt Rove will go after Cruz, but Cruz can handle it. It will be obvious to everyone who is sick of Rove and the GOPe picking loser candidates what is afoot.

The surefire way to tell whether someone is on a candidate’s team is to follow the money. Let’s see if there is a repeat of the past support of Walker by the American Crossroads Super Pac. If not, Rove is definitely up to something.

Rubio is the GOPe golden boy for sure. I hope voters take a serious look at what he really stands for.

The link you provided focused on a $500K loan.

And I’m not one to totally believe the media’s take on Walker.

Especially a media that ignored Solyndra.

Well, the article was not expressing the media’s view, but was quoting GOP legislators. The proofs in the pudding. We’ll know more when the results of the prosecutors review come out.

The Republican Party will take him down one way or another. I believe that to be an absolute requirement for the GOPe.

Walker also has a situation where he used tax money to fund a pro sports stadium. Wish we could find a conservative who thought as much governance and money as possible should go back to communities....to spend as they please.

(Sure isn't Kasich.)
