Masha, a long-haired tabby cat, saved the life of a baby abandoned in the streets of Russia — after she climbed into the box he was discarded in and kept him warm, health officials said.
“The baby had only been outside for a few hours and thanks to Masha … he was not damaged by the experience,” a hospital spokesman told Central European News.
The whiskered hero even meowed to get the attention of a passerby.

Abandoning animals is such a terrible thing to do.
Cats have the same maternal instincts most animals have. They will protect & comfort those in distress. We had a tortoiseshell female when I was growing up who would comfort us when we were upset & crying. (She ignored us if we tried to fake tears.) I have a little female right now who sleeps near me when I’m in my office. If I sneeze or cough or make a noise she interprets as distress, she comes to see me to make sure I’m okay. Then she curls up in my lap.
Kitties are the best people.
Yeh....Mom said I had to get rid of my cat before my bro was born.

I have had many cats and the only thing a cat ever did was to look up at me and say “feed me you fool” but maybe the baby survived because the cat was looking for a spot out of the weather. That’s nice.
Agreed. I even did that once... left a cat behind when I moved... about 40 years ago. Never again! When I moved to Arizona 1-1/2 years ago, I drove here from the California high desert in one night, with 6 cats in cages in my car. Stressful on them, yes, but couldn't bear to give them up... especially not the two senior tortie females.

That cat is just using your face to clean it’s tongue :)
I’ve seen cats move in and try to protect kids who were being scolded by their parents.
Then you don’t know cats.

Cat lick herself clean after using the litter box and then comes into bed with you to lick your face? Yipes!
If a person knows cats, they know cats are terrific mothers. Better than many humans.
Ticks me off that there are some that do not understand that.
