Going under the knife tomorrow (vanity)

Well, having a double laminectomy/ Discectomy tomorrow. I don't really want to do it, but the doctor says the longer I wait the less likely function will return. I have 50% weakness in the left leg and a foot drop. It turns out I have direct impingement on the nerves which is blocking the nerve impulses. I've done excersize/therapy in the past. This time 0% improvement after 5 weeks of therapy. If this doesn't give me some improvement I'm looking at medical retirement (law enforcement). I don't really want to retire now, but God is good, I guess we'll let him take care of it. I would appreciate any and all prayers for me. I'm getting older and not afraid to admit I need all the help I can get. Please be advised any responses to this thread after tomorrow afternoon might be a little flaky or bizarre due to pain medication. Apologies in advance.

I hope a neurosurgeon is working on you. They are more likely to use microsurgical techniques and results in less morbidity. Recovery time will be much less.

This is not to say an orthopedic surgeon can not use the same technique.
