Within the last week or so, Oregon Right to Life posted 17 signs alongside Interstate 5, on private properties of pro-life landowners. Many of them (pictured) read: Abortion: a Lifetime of Regret.
We started to receive word Friday that an unknown number of them had been vandalized with the words, Its OK pasted over it. Today, a south-traveling supporter stopped and took pictures of three of the vandalized signs.
vandalism27We obviously have no way of knowing who vandalized the signs. It appears to be well-planned and the vandal also had to cross barbwire fences to get to the signs. The supporter who took the pictures reported that the grass was still bent over in the path the vandal took to the signs.
We are working on getting in touch with the landowners and will be seeing how repairable the signs are over the next few days. We cant say we didnt expect this: we put up a billboard version of these signs down in Eugene and balloons full of paint were thrown up and smashed against the billboard, destroying it.
But we tried again anyway because the truth of the matter is that abortion does create a lifetime of regret. There is a good chance (33% actually) that the vandal who ruined our signs experienced an abortion themselves. Their choice of words makes me sad. It reminds me of what we helpless humans say to people that are hurting: Its okay, dont worry, itll be okay. We cant help ourselves. We say it to people with cancer, to our kids when they get sick, to the family down the street losing their homes. And we often say that to ourselves, like a self-hug.
Its okay. Everything is okay.
But it is not okay. Like a band-aid that does nothing but cover the wound, the words, Its okay dont magically make it okay. The cancer is still killing them, the sickness still feels like the end of the world, and the family will be homeless. And nothing will ever magically make abortion okay. In every abortion, a woman is damaged (whether she realizes it at the time or not), and in every abortion, a child is destroyed.
So, to the vandal that destroyed our signs: no, its not okay. But if you are one of the third of women who are post-abortive, there is healing and hope for you. It wont make it all okay but it will go a long ways to help. Call us at 503-463-8563. There is forgiveness available for you both for the abortion and the vandalized signs.
Please share this letter widely so it reaches whoever vandalized our signs.
In my state, trespassers who climb over barbed wire fences could be construed as a threat to my safety. I know I certainly would yell “I see you, I feel threatened in my safety!” as I shoot you.
That’s basically the difference between “us” and “them”.
I have neighbors who put up yard signs for every vile Leftist who happens to gain the Democrat Endorsement.
I respect their First Amendment rights.
They seem not nearly so tolerant of mine.
Vaseline and the hottest red pepper you can find will stop it!
Just set up a motion-triggered camera with night vision capability that will photo the jerks.
Deer trail cameras hidden and strategically placed would show you the perps.
HIdden near the side of the road as well, to capture license plate numbers.
Now you have a face, a car, and a license to go with it. Then a little visit by the Police for trespass and vandalism.
All things can be found out with a little proper prior planning.
If a stupid "progressive" did it, he's over there bragging about it.
Bunch of damned loons...they get their panties all in a bunch over supposed slights to their causes, but let someone else have a cause...well, you know how they are.
Anybody that worships the likes of sharpton, obama, maddow and olbermann, gots to be dummies.
Make it electric, they will piss their drawers if they touch it...
I got shocked quite a bit growing up on a farm, not very pleasant...
