Usually, after charges of police brutality, police officials take their time reacting while they follow procedure to determine who did what. But this episode in Knoxville, Tenn., was so extreme and well-documented that the local sheriff fired the officer immediately.
Frank Phillips, a Knox County Sheriffs officer, was fired Sunday night after a series of pictures taken by photographer John Messner were published in the Daily Mail in Britain. They showed an officer identified by the Sheriffs Office as Phillips grabbing 21-year-old college student Jarod Dotson around the neck and squeezing him until he fell to his knees.

But he keeps his pension, right ?
This cop will be working for BLM by the end of the week.
Obviously a graduate of the Fullerton Police Academy.
The two other Blue Heroes in the picture should have been fired too - for doing NOTHING to stop this thug.
He could have killed the kid.
But he’s a “civilian” now..
Hopefully, he’ll meet up with someone who doesn’t take kindly to being choked. Or seeing someone else choked.
He had it bad enough with Moe. I hate to see Curly fall so far.
Keep an eye out.. often a few weeks after a “firing” the officer will be rehired either at the same location or one that is associated with it.
Now the question is IF the student did the same thing where would they be RIGHT now ?
I sometimes feel society would be better off with all citizens armed, and no cops.
YUP
What I have seen happen occasionally here in NE Fla. is the cop just get’s a job with a PD in one of the surrounding counties/towns.
He was fired.
Either that or some other federal agency. Perhaps for a small town not too far from Knoxville.
According to WVLT news, the Sheriff was quoted: "In my 34 years of law enforcement experience, excessive force has never been tolerated. After an investigation by the Office of Professional Standards, I believe excessive force was used in this incident. Therefore, Officer Phillips employment with the Knox County Sheriffs Office is terminated immediately. The investigation will now be turned over to the Knox County Attorney Generals Office to determine any further action. This incident provides a perfect example of why we are in the process of purchasing officer worn body cameras (video and audio recordings) so incidents like this will be fully documented.
If that happens, then whatever agency that hires him should be hounded and harassed until they are forced to reverse their decision. Americans need to practice ‘zero tolerance’ with this type of situation and not permit slime like this greaseball to work again.
Heres the contact email of the attorney general : Let him hear our anger: contact@tndagc.org
This is why sheriffs are subject to re-election.
Keeps them accountable.
This was the first time he’s been caught on camera, but I’m sure this wasn’t the first time he’s used that “Carotid Artery” blocking technique. As practice makes perfect, his technique was just too polished and perfect to have been a one time, spur of the moment event.
