They need to make an example of this cop and make sure every police department is made aware of this case.

I sometimes feel society would be better off with all citizens armed, and no cops.

This was the first time he’s been caught on camera, but I’m sure this wasn’t the first time he’s used that “Carotid Artery” blocking technique. As practice makes perfect, his technique was just too polished and perfect to have been a one time, spur of the moment event.

one wonders what would be happening right now if the victim had been black or a member of Occupy Wall Street

"Deputy Brandon Gilliam wrote in the official report that Dotson began to physically resist officers instructions to place his hands behind his back, and at one point grabbed on to an officers leg." So there Dotson was, just minding his own business, reading the bible, and feeding the homeless and the mean ol'e police just came from out of nowhere and started harassing him, in fact he was trying so hard to comply with their commands that fell down...gosh, dotson is such a swell guy, anyone can see the police were just harshing his mellow. Where I come from we teach our kids if a police officer gives you a command you follow it immediately and without question because 9 times out of 10 if you have gotten to the point where a police officer is telling you to do something, you have passed "F'ing up" and have gone straight to STFU. Reminds me of comedian Ron White's explanation of getting arrested; I had the right to remain silent... but I didn't have the ability. ― Ron White

But for the British press, and pictures, and the fact that the victim had a spotless record, this cop would have continued along his merry way. The cops who were also there and said nothing should also be fired.

I mean, is that not exactly the kind of face the term brings to mind?

Sheriffs have to run for reelection, chiefs of police don’t. I would attribute the quick action partially to this fact.
