I have spent much of my career as a doctor working with disadvantaged patient groups the mentally ill, in paediatric palliative care, geriatrics, in outreach programs, in drug clinics and with the homeless. Many of these people are desperately in need.
Only a few weeks ago, a patient spat and then threw a chair at me because I had the audacity to suggest that if he continued to inject himself with heroin every day, despite being in treatment for more than two years, he should be discharged from my care and that this might affect his benefits.
They cant stop my money, he shouted. Ill just go thieving.
But I am sick and tired of seeing fit and healthy people who choose not to work, who refuse to take menial jobs because of a false sense of entitlement, while there are poor, needy and desperate individuals working hard but having to rely on meager handouts and struggling to pay basic bills
Well, then, doc - why don't you just do like all the other liberals do and ignore the existence of the former type of person and just feel good about yourself for caring about(without actually doing anything to help) the latter group?
Where is this? Is there a link?
Take the money currently being paid to people who refuse to work and use it to supplement the working poor.
You and I...
Both IBTZ
I’m confused about why you see anything in the sentence you quote as liberal. He’s drawing a line between the deserving and undeserving poor, which is verboten in liberalism.
I quite agree with him.
Should he take two and call you in the morning?
That was kind of my point...
He’s a “socialist” because he thinks that that’s the best way to “help people”,
but he’s finally seeing first hand that it doesn’t work.
Other liberals simply refuse to see or acknowledge that this is the outcome every time it’s tried.
When taken orally one always seem to do it.
You mean "the DISABLED"...
Did you ever notice what those in disabled parking are driving?...
Or watch them walk into the "store" quite "able"..?.
and well dressed?.
What is the count of americans on food stamps these days?.. Obama is PUNISHMENT to the Unites States... as Bush Jr. WAS.. And "WE" deserve it..
What we need is a SECOND PARTY... not a third..
I am sure that some will insist that capsule is too small to handle the problem.
A close relative of mine works at “community clinics” in NY City. Deals with a lot of poor, diabetic/obese, drug addict, HIV-gay, etc... nearly all are on Welfare and Medicaid.
She will often see some things clearly - blame the individual for stupid behavior, - throwing away or selling medicines (and then asking for more free), not following treatment plans, continued risky behavior. Or, she will note the cycle of ignorance and government hand-outs these folks are trapped in.
Yet somehow, in the big-picture, its still “the system’s” fault. Neo-cons, Bush, the 1%, the Koch Brothers - whatever the slogan of the day is, they are to blame
Liberalism is a mental disorder. The writer has it. I see it all the time.
Off hand, I’d say that round casing has been through the sawdust more than once or twice...
Still, looks like 45 ACP, so it’s a good choice.
Ben... Ben... Ben...
With that attitude, how are we going to create a dependent class that empowers big government?
What are you thinking?
“I’m a socialist. I see the idiocy of government control and yet I still want government control! See what morons us socialists are? we’re crraaaAAAAZyyyy”
LOL!!!
