Lye Soap (opinions needed)

Posted on 11/21/2013 5:31:18 PM PST by RoosterRedux

A friend makes lye soap several times a year and she gave a few bars to me. All natural (she uses Crisco vegetable oil instead of lard)...and it is great as a bathing product.

Have been thinking of producing this stuff as a bidness. Have lots of connections who would sell it if a market is out there.

Your thoughts please...

Well, initially I will say that you will either succeed, or fail.

One point to make, I haven’t used bar soap for anything in years. Body wash in the shower and hand soap at the sink. I don’t know how typical I am in this regard.

I have spent much of my career in venture capital and still must admit that I am (we all are) beginners.

We don't really know until it happens...and then we claim we knew all along (but of course, we didn't)...

The image in my mind when I hear lye soap is granny stirring a huge pot out by the ceeement pond. Call it craft soap or something like that.

Don’t call it LYE Soap

Give it frilly packing and add lots of lavender.

Women, who buy most soap, will love it.

You might want to consider visiting your local liposuction center.

Your contributions to your local politicians will determine the actions of your local regulatory and code enforcement officers.

Then there's state and Federal....

It’s called lie soap because it is used to cleanse one’s mouth whilst thou britches are ablaze... PS makes a great “holiday” gift

NO! Stay away from granny. Elie Mae would sell a whole lot more soap.

I read the book when it was first released...and I saw the movie on opening day.

Loved it (would be in the fight club)...but didn't see the connection with the real market of Lye Soap.
