FULL TITLE: Walmart to foot bill for food stamp spending spree fiasco sparked by computer glitch - because they were supposed to stick to $50 limit per customer
WalMart will have to pay for hundreds of thousands of dollars of groceries bought by Louisiana food stamp recipients after a computer glitch gave them unlimited funds on their government-issued credit cards.
The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, which oversees the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card program in the state, said WalMart could have instituted an emergency $50 limit for each customer, but chose not to - and as a result, the retail giant must foot the sizable bill.
It comes after dozens of welfare families with EBT cards picked the shelves bare in stores in Springhill and Mansfield on Saturday and walked away with up to ten shopping carts filled with meat and other groceries - in a spending frenzy described by local officials as 'worse than Black Friday'.

if they get food stamps then they should give back to those who pay for their food by being told to do at least 15 hours volunteer work , like pick up trash on roads etc

It looks like Obama plans to stop the EBT November 1, cause massive food riots, and blame it on the GOP.
I postulate that this is how it happened.
One person knew they were over limit and planned to pay for the balance another way, but the ebt card covered it all.
Probably tested it again, then called all her friends & relations.

Having people come up to the cashier with ten shopping carts full of meat should have been questioned.
I think there was some malicious compliance by the front line employees. That is, they were helping their neighbors stick it to the wealthy corporation. I wonder if some of this was facilitated by the employees themselves? Did they call their neighbor and have him load up some carts and then split the food with the employee the following day?

I’m pretty sure I’d read that the store manager consulted with the main office on what to do with the situation.
The right answer was to limit them to $50.00 worth of food.
It will be given back to them in some sleazy back-door deal as a quid pro-quo for going along with some other objectionable piece of the Obama agenda.
The poor, downtrodden ‘oppressed.’ Free money cards, free phones, free rent. Don’t bother getting car insurance. All compliments of the hard-working people who then get called racist.
Could be that your tax dollars account for a huge part of WalMart’s sales.
I’ll be honest. I;m sick of these people taking and taking and when I see them in front of me getting all their freebies and I;m paying over $200 a week and then have to pay for theirs it does my head in.
Once I did say something to a very obese large woman who then used the race card against me while she was calling me mother F cracker.

problem is that the cashier might have known about this and got on her phone to text her pals and family to come on down quick and get to aisle 5 where she was.

WalMart SHOULD have used the $50 “emergency” EBT protocol called for in such instances. What they did was imbecilic. They should be billed and the admin who made this decision should be canned.
I agree, but it'll never happen. These animals knew they were not entitled to that much merchandise, but the went ahead and took it.
Looting, plain and simple.
Up to ten shopping carts? Does that mean there were individuals who filled up TEN carts? The brazenness and greed of these leeches is breathtaking.
Walmart started it all by deciding to be compassionate and letting people buy food “to feed their families.” As if these dishonest leeches would show restraint and take just what they needed! Yeah, right. Well, now Walmart has to pay for their compassion...not to mention the overtime their workers must have had to put in replacing all the items from the abandoned carts, and not to mention all the perishables from those abandoned carts that probably had to be dumped.
If anything good comes of this, I hope it makes taxpayers good and mad and stops the ridiculous generosity and compassion toward people who are overwhelmingly nothing but lazy, dishonest, selfish leeches.
It was your/our money that helped her to get obese.
