FULL TITLE: Walmart to foot bill for food stamp spending spree fiasco sparked by computer glitch - because they were supposed to stick to $50 limit per customer

WalMart will have to pay for hundreds of thousands of dollars of groceries bought by Louisiana food stamp recipients after a computer glitch gave them unlimited funds on their government-issued credit cards.

The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, which oversees the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card program in the state, said WalMart could have instituted an emergency $50 limit for each customer, but chose not to - and as a result, the retail giant must foot the sizable bill.

It comes after dozens of welfare families with EBT cards picked the shelves bare in stores in Springhill and Mansfield on Saturday and walked away with up to ten shopping carts filled with meat and other groceries - in a spending frenzy described by local officials as 'worse than Black Friday'.

No, “Walmart” will not “foot the bill” for the theft by the EBT crowd.

Their customers and stock holders will.

The should just dock the EBT cardholders until the difference is made up.

It's the thieving EBT zombies who are at fault.

They have records of EXACTLY WHO spent above their limits.
Just put their accounts in the negative until they catch up.

So these EBT losers and leeches have gotten away with hundreds of dollars of free-stuff. That’s okay. The more this story gets publicized the more stores will just turn away EBT leeches when their electronic system is down. IOW no more compassion for the leeches. A good thing.

It should come out of the pay/bonuses of whatever corporate moron(s) made the “politically-correct” decision to let the ferals run wild.

So are we to believe that no only was there no limit on the cards, but transactions were not being recorded? BS!

At a minimum, don’t put another dime on the EBT cards until their “tab” is paid off. After all, they should have plenty of food, right?

When the EBT system was down, how is it Walmart’s ‘glitch?’

Did Walmart keep track of the card holders who made the purchases? If so, they should be paying. Locally, stores just put up signs telling that the EBT system was down.

Dumb choice by Walmart.
Appeasing the moochers only means you get killed last.

Do banks give away free money when their ATM doesn’t work?

It may have been their glitch but I’m still not sure how they would have known the limit on each person if the cards were not working properly.

Walmart feared to stop them for several reasons.. 1) the card holders would have rioted and done serious damage and injury to employees and non-EBT customers, and 2) the media would have portrayed the company has heartless white slavers.
