The ocean is a dangerous place. But how does one swim while holding a torch?
I think they mean flashlight. (in British English it’s called a torch)
I think something was lost in translation. A flashlight sounds correct to me.
I use both hands when I dog paddle. I wouldn't even think of swimming at night with only one hand.
