Well, I sure screwed it up today I went to sit down on a chair that wasn't there and fell, now I can't move my legs and the ER released me saying nothing is broke so there is nothing they can/will do. No brace, no chair, no crutches, nothing. The doctor didn't even touch me, tell me to wiggle toes, take my temp, listen to my heart, nothing...just a CT scan and then let me go. I couldn't even get in the car without a nurse, 2 cops and a citizen who offered to help. I don't know what to do now, I can't walk :'(
This is of course concerning to me since I have a fused spine and ongoing issues. I'm calling my pain management doc to see if he wants to do something different.
Thank you for the prayers!
I see a neurologist (back surgery), orthopedist (pain management), lung doc (BPEs), PCP, plus several other specialists. At this point, they are now recommending an implanted Spinal Cord Stimulator, and that is what I am worried about. I’m not sure what my insurance’s policy is about 2nd opinions...unfortunately, while applying for disability, I’m having to rely on state insurance. :(
my neighbor just got one...has a remote control.....first couple days he was FUBAR.....last week I saw him walking with a crisp step..they put temporary ones in then he had to go back for the permanent implants...Best of luck....I have chronic pain from nerve damage suffered while they were taking the fascia out of both feet. Bastards would not let me have light duty.....just kicked me to SSD after 2 years of surgeries and recovery.
Sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope you find relief somehow. Thank you for the information on your neighbor...I guess I’m going to do the trial and see if it will help, though I don’t have much in expectations since the tens unit already doesn’t work...but I’ll give it a chance. I was also told it would be better for my SSI application to show that I tried it.
The next option, if this doesn’t work...is an ITP...some kind of pain pump inserted in my abdomen.
Thank you. Better living through modern chemistry. Oxycontin in the morning and evening and oxycodone to fill in the gaps. Stuff happens....just rolling with the flow....nuttin’ He can give me that I cant get through with out Him. Never had a bad day...
Found out today the next step, after the SCS will be an ITP, a pump...implanted in my abdomen that will give medication straight to my system. I called to ask a few questions today and got “Talk to the rep that calls you about the stimulator...they will be able to answer that better” and that’s when she told me about the ITP.

Do dig a lot deeper, with your health that device could kill you.
The test is not painful and it takes 20 minutes to complete.
Thank you for that info...do they actually puncture the epidural during the test? Can your spinal fluid still leak out?
anyone in the mood for some good news for a change?
...great news! I lost so much weight, I don’t have sleep apnea anymore!
A few notes of praise first...I got a new wheelchair, and I got a new shower transfer bench. I can take showers on my own now and I dont have to worry about hiding from the supply company trying to take the wheelchair anymore! God is good, and so are precious friends.
Now for the prayer needs...Yikes, its getting scary! My trial for the spinal cord stimulator is going to be next Tuesday, the 17th. It was recommended to just TRY to unit so we could tell SSI I tried it, and it did/didnt work. The first part will be does the unit work while I am on the table. If no...its removed and the trial is over. If yes, on to the second part...the unit is taped down, the battery is put on a belt type strap that is worn around my waist and I come home with a hand-held control device to turn it on/off and increase or lower the power (at least that is what I think it is for). If I agree it is doing better for me, they remove the trial unit, send me home and make an appointment for the permanent unit to be implanted, anchored and the battery pack implanted in the back of the hip. Its reversible, it can be removed...though there are dangers to removing it after its been in for a while. The other option is an ITP...a pain pump, implantedin my abdomen, but it also has a lead that goes in the spinal column to administer medication. The patient has to go to the doctor about 1 time a month to have the medicine replenished by the doctor inserting a needle, into the box and refilling the medication. One fear for that...what if they mess up and inject the medicine directly into me...and I am overdosed? Anyone heard of this happening?
Please, pray for income for me...I have filed for SSI, but its been 6 months and I havent heard anything back. I was hoping it would be approved in time for Christmas and Crystals birthday in January, and Codys birthday in February...but without a Christmas miracle, that doesnt look like its going to happen.
I got my miracle by receiving my medical equipment...the chair and the shower bench. Cody and Crystal know that this year isnt looking good, but I cry (Crystal is living under a bridge in Savannah Georgia) They tried to live in a home with an older man who said he needed help with the bills and offered them a room, but they found out he was a sex-offender and he started making advances on her and they RAN, and now live under the bridge.
Cody has an appointment in February for his Rheumatoid Arthiritis and lymes disease, that was the earliest they could get him in...the PCP tried a steroid pack to calm his pain, but it didnt help, and his pain is getting out of control. Its hard to watch your child cry in pain nearly every day.
God Bless you all for your awesome prayers. I pray you all have a blessed and very Merry Christmas.
Holiday loves to my friends!
BTTT
Praying for you, my FRiend.
Prayers continuing, t, for you and for your family.
So after being given money by some generous freeper to pay rent for a month, your daughter still ended up “living under a bridge”? Are there no shelters in Savannah?
When the roommate found out she was going to be able to get the money for rent, she went off the wall and tried to have Crystal legally evicted. When she found out she would have to pay to do that, she just moved out and forced Crystal and the friend out too.
There are shelters, but at this time of the year, they are full. She went last night to look at an available apartment and missed getting to see it because they went by bus and got there too late. They are going to try again and we are praying they can get into the apartment on the first of January. I heard from the Savannah police officer who is the homeless liason, he said she is in a dangerous place, living in a tent in an area that is filled with people who have served time for rape, molestation, murder, and many other issues...he is asking me to convince them to go to Indiana where a friend has offered to put them up and help them file for help to get them on their own feet and in their own place...she doesn't want to go that far away, but I am begging her to do so!
Thank you so much for the prayers. God Bless and I pray you have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

“convince them to go to Indiana where a friend has offered to put them up and help them file for help to get them on their own feet and in their own place...she doesn’t want to go that far away, but I am begging her to do so!”
The friend’s offer is perhaps the miracle you’ve been praying for? I’d say it is, without a doubt! Your precious daughter needs to be safe. Absolutely GO FOR IT!
I understand it’s scary, but the procedures you have options for are commonplace and one of them should give relief. The ortho docs I’ve worked for are able to discern quickly if the implant helps, but if you need the injected medication... prayers for you to get past your fears in order to live a pain-free life.
Prayers continue for your situation.
