Well, I sure screwed it up today I went to sit down on a chair that wasn't there and fell, now I can't move my legs and the ER released me saying nothing is broke so there is nothing they can/will do. No brace, no chair, no crutches, nothing. The doctor didn't even touch me, tell me to wiggle toes, take my temp, listen to my heart, nothing...just a CT scan and then let me go. I couldn't even get in the car without a nurse, 2 cops and a citizen who offered to help. I don't know what to do now, I can't walk :'(
This is of course concerning to me since I have a fused spine and ongoing issues. I'm calling my pain management doc to see if he wants to do something different.
Doc comes back and says "CT scan shows nothing wrong so you are being released". I said "what about my legs, I can't move them, I can't stand" He said "The scan shows nothing wrong we can't and wont keep you, and we will help you out" I asked what was I suppose to do when we got home since nobody can carry me, and they didn't answer. I don't understand...why would he not check my reflexes, my pulse, ANYTHING?
Please, pray for me to be able to use my legs again...this is scary!
Prayers, lifting you up
And I am so sorry, that obamaCare is in full swing.
(Don’t blame the docs)
Is this your first time to that ER?
Prayers up!
And HUGZ
Go to a chiropractor.
How near is the next closest ER?
Maybe you really are fine and don’t know it yet. Just need to weight until the muscle heals? I got hit once during a football game and couldn’t move for awhile either. I was nailed right at the base of the back. Whatever the case, prayers up.
I can’t imagine any of our local hospitals discharging under these circumstances.
Correction: Go to a chiropractor, but when he tells you to come back weekly, ignore that part. One visit should do the job.
Yikes....do you have family you can call ? Kids or something ?
Wow, my last post was pretty goofed up. Weight = wait, etc.
It is scary. God willing you'll be back on your feet again soon -- we're all of us here praying for you.
Praying for you.
Nineteen more days to Obamacare! Has your Navigator visited you yet?!
Ask your GP if a nerve conductivity test is in order. They'll take readings of your 'traffic' and see if there's any disruptions. Might be a painful test, but my guess is neurological if nothing else has been found.
Really? Chiropractors can sooth many ailments, but paralysis, I don’t think so.
P.S. CT scans is insufficient. MRI is in order too, and they want to do that first before they move on to nerve conductivity test.
Sounds like they think it was temporary nerve paralysis (trauma induced). If so, they should have told you.
Get a good lawyer.
I cant imagine a hospital discharging you under those conditions. no diagnosis provided. no treatment or even precautionary measures reported?
I bet your doctor tells you he wants you taken (carefully taken) to another hospital for a better evaluation .
if your doctor wants you carried in a stretcher, let him have his way, because there is just a very very small but still real chance that there could have been some nerve damage and your doctor may want you extra-protected from any further possible harm
but one way or another...if it were me and I were still immobilized and had not received a meaningful diagnosis and some sort of care or treatment plan, I would definitely seek those things out
meanwhile you definitely do have all our prayers.
(I had both legs mostly immobilized once and barely could make it to hospital, but fortunately it was something minor and went away. SIMPLE PRUDENCE says you cannot count on that, there is always a small chance of something seriously hurt inside you .... so please get a good medical workup
it will at the very least put your mind at ease
which is worth a whole lot, too
blessings,
