Argentina is going through the classic stages of economic collapse.
The government seized all pensions. They are destroying everything that gives the people incentive to be a society that emerges from the cooperation of everyone.
When government turns against its own people, even as the USA is currently doing, you end up with deflation insofar as the economy collapses and wages are not available, while hoarding emerges as does barter.

There is no common “true value”. The value is whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
The truest value of a company stock is number f shares divided into whatever the company can be sold for. That hasn’t been 1 or less of a divisor in over 100 years.
Overall wealth in the US isn’t a factor in the markets. The injection should either prop up stock prices or expand the stock base with new shares of stock being issues.
The ship hoarding really got to me because they started their hoarding so fast and cared nothing about the rest of the people - they turned into Piranha fish immediately, willingly stripping other people of food if there wasn't enough. I am so sure our FR preppers would not have done that - instead we would have shared off our own plate to someone who had none.
Who were these people who didn't care if the others starved? My guess is they were Hussein's voters.
Bingo!
When the SHTF, it will be worldwide. Food will be a primary problem for almost everyone for months or years. Subsistence living will be the only way to survive long term. Yet, there are probably few areas left in the USA where that is possible, especially as millions of people will be trying to do the same thing in the same limited areas.
It may surprise people to know that there are places where it is almost impossible to starve.
Take Costa Rica. Numerous fruits & vegetables grow wild. The fruit rots on the ground in places. The soil is so rich that a green stick jammed into the ground becomes a tree. There is plenty of game & fish for the taking.
Much of tropical Central & South America is like this - tropical islands in the Caribbean, too. The USA, not so much.
When the SHTF, millions in the US will starve or die trying to feed themselves & their families. City dwellers are doomed. That’s not nearly as likely in a place where you can gather food in your back yard.
I’m just saying...
The ones that come on prepper threads and say they don't have to prep, they'll just take what they need from the preppers.....

You might be surprised then that some people are already living that lifestyle.

How long can you store soybeans in a silo before they get eaten by mice, mold or mildew?
Those with backyard gardens will have them stripped bare unless they have a goodly number of sentries. However, if you have enough sentries, then your little backyard garden isn't going be large enough to feed them all.
What in Gods name is holding the markets up? You would think people would withdraw their funds and begin to convert to tangible assets. ????

What is actually happening is the devaluation of the dollar(deliberatie action by Government/FED). This means that prices of everything go up, and that includes stocks, not just food, gas, etc. It’s just the market reflecting that it takes more dollars to buy the same amount of stock.
Hence it’s not that stocks are so great, it’s that the dollar is so bad. The only thing saving us so far is that the Dollar is still the reserve currency of the world, and other countries are bad off too - many even worse than we are so far, as well as the normalcy bias of the dollar being seen as the safe currency to hold.
When the dollar crashes(as it appears Obama’s masters want, just like when the British Sterling lost reserve currency status, the USA will be in even more trouble than it already is).
Unless you are well isolated, bands of scroungers will eventually overwhelm your farm, stealing crops & animals, maybe killing you in the process. The Haves will have a serious problem with the Have Nots. There will be far more of the latter than the former.
You may win every battle but the last, as your determined defense makes whatever you've got appear ever more valuable to those determined to take it.
I realize there are places to hide & flourish, but they wont accommodate many, nor will they remain hidden for long, as the cities empty into the countryside searching for food & relative safety from the jackals. The jackals will follow, if they do not lead the way. Once you are discovered, your peril increases dramatically.
Seriously? Do you have any idea how large a silo is? Against my better judgement, I'll bite. Silos aren't for for extended long term storage. They are for short to moderate length of storage until you can sell it or the market comes up. That's why you see many silos along railroads. Low oxygen silos will keep your beans longer. Dry the beans and package them in containers where varmits can't get to it. Keep what you'll use as seed for next season. Sell or barter the 95% of the beans left in the silo. Get some cats to take care of the mice or serve the zombies roasted mice. Sow the beans you saved for planting the next Spring and repeat the cycle.
You only need to store them till the next planting cycle with maybe a few extras just in case of crop failure. Almost everyone has enough room in their back yard to grow crops to keep their family from starving.
It is more of a challenge in Norhtern States, but in central and southern areas, high protein grains and some types of beans can even be grown in the winter time.
Regarding the rural food that metrosexuals plan to take: we’re ready for you. For the humble few who plan to grow it, you’ll need about 2,000 pounds of fertilizer, 10 gallons of diesel, 2-3000 seeds and about three months of canned food per acre to start or you’ll have to survive all year on summer’s weeds.
I would expect a very, very large die off in the cities in days or weeks.
Those of us that have spent years and have experience in subsistance level feeding stand a pretty good chance.

That’s were the weeds, flowers, and crops that naturalize come in. Even if they hit the gardens, many will not know about the edible landscaping that exists.
Plus the indoors growing areas can yield a lot if you have southern or western exposures. Even patio plants that can be brought indoors for protection when needed.
Among other prep solutions which shall remain unspoken.
The article says farmers are storing their soybeans because of inflation. I doubt you would want to store soybeans in a silo for more than a year. You have to also recoup the costs of planting and I’m sure you can’t just replant the soybeans you have without having a problem with the conglomerate you bought the seeds from.
My small garden is enclosed with high brick walls - no one can see it and they can't get to it. It was that way when I bought this place so was accidental good luck. I'm making preparations so I can grow more food there, plus I'm learning how to grow food.
