You only need to store them till the next planting cycle with maybe a few extras just in case of crop failure. Almost everyone has enough room in their back yard to grow crops to keep their family from starving.

It is more of a challenge in Norhtern States, but in central and southern areas, high protein grains and some types of beans can even be grown in the winter time.

The article says farmers are storing their soybeans because of inflation. I doubt you would want to store soybeans in a silo for more than a year. You have to also recoup the costs of planting and I’m sure you can’t just replant the soybeans you have without having a problem with the conglomerate you bought the seeds from.
