That’s not nearly as likely in a place where you can gather food in your back yard.

Those with backyard gardens will have them stripped bare unless they have a goodly number of sentries. However, if you have enough sentries, then your little backyard garden isn't going be large enough to feed them all.

Regarding the rural food that metrosexuals plan to take: we’re ready for you. For the humble few who plan to grow it, you’ll need about 2,000 pounds of fertilizer, 10 gallons of diesel, 2-3000 seeds and about three months of canned food per acre to start or you’ll have to survive all year on summer’s weeds.

That’s were the weeds, flowers, and crops that naturalize come in. Even if they hit the gardens, many will not know about the edible landscaping that exists.

Plus the indoors growing areas can yield a lot if you have southern or western exposures. Even patio plants that can be brought indoors for protection when needed.

Among other prep solutions which shall remain unspoken.

My small garden is enclosed with high brick walls - no one can see it and they can't get to it. It was that way when I bought this place so was accidental good luck. I'm making preparations so I can grow more food there, plus I'm learning how to grow food.

You don’t seem to understand. In places such a Costa Rica, food grows wild, nearly everywhere, right up to the ocean. There is no need to steal food in the countryside with such a small population & wealth of free food. Why risk stealing when you can gather your food for free?

I’m not saying you would eat like a king, but you wouldn’t starve. In the USA, many people will starve within a month of the grocery stores closing. Many more will not survive a winter.

I now understand feudalism.
