(Newser) The Watertown man whose boat was destroyed after Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found hiding in it is touched that people are raising funds to buy him a new onebut he wants them to save their money for bomb victims. "It makes me feel wonderful that people are thinking like that," but "I don't want that really," Dave Henneberry tells WCVB. "I would wish that they donate it to the One Fund Boston. They lost limbs. I lost a boat."
Henneberry says his obsession with the boat, Slip Away II, led him to inspect it when the "shelter-in-place" order was lifted during the manhunt. He says that after he climbed a ladder and spotted Tsarnaev, "I didn't waste any time. I didn't ask him if he wanted a cup of coffee. I was off that ladder. That is all I remember" before calling 911. The boat is now a blood-stained, bullet-riddled messand police evidence. "Slip Away is slipping away. But I say it did its job," he says. "It held a bad guy and is going away like a Viking ship." (Meanwhile, Tsarnaev has opened up about the motivation for the attacks.)

Some museum will want it, watch someone just buy him one just because, or the brand it was gives him a new one. I think every freeper here would love to have a cold beer with this guy....
good 4 him —
He certainly is more noble than the family of MLK.
A niece of MLK is an outspoken activist against abortion.
Haha I know what you mean!
If it were me I’d drag it to where the bomb when off and call the news people and tell every one to drop off money donations for the victims till the boat was over flowing. That would get back at the muzzies and bring in donations by the millions.
He said the worst thing was they were asleep in their house while the bomber was in their boat a short distance from them. I would bet he goes through the paperwork to buy a gun. He had no defense when he found that guy in the boat.
LOL! My Dad always tells that joke when I (jokingly) tell him he ought to get a boat.
Wish he would out it on EBay and give the proceeds to the victims. Bet it would sell for a lot of money.
I wonder if his insurance will cover it.
Most policies have exclusions for terrorism.
Most policies have exclusions for terrorism.
I am sure his Homeowner policy will cover it, but he may have a seperate policy on the boat itself. The Insurer will get reimbursed by the cities/agencies responsible for filling it full of bullet holes. Even if their is not insurance coverage, he will get reimbursed at fair market value.
Unless this guy is an idiot he could make huge bucks with the boat. When the boat is released by the authorities , this cheescake factory will be worth a lot of riyals.
If he hadn't gone out for a smoke (is that still allowed in 'menino's city'?) and check on his boat, who knows how long the manhunt would have continued.
The very definition of class, we need more like this guy.
