I won this monster over the holidays, Vanguard 300 Weatherby Mag. I live in north MS and the largest thing we have to hunt is white tail deer. This is overkill. I don't know much about it but kinda like it for my small collection. I don't think I will ever get the chance to hunt with it. Would you suggest keep it, trade it or sell it?
How much?
What would you take for it?
Sweet gun, but if you don’t think you’ll use it, I’d sell it and use the proceeds to buy something you’ll actually shoot.
Occasionally, I rotate my collection like this. The stuff I never find myself shooting goes on Gunbroker and I buy new and exciting goodies with the money.
Overkill? No such thing.
Sore shoulder, too much for ammo? Valid reason to trade.
Ok, I’m going to send you an address and my FFL. Just take it straight UPS, bubble wrapped in a plain brown box. I’m happy to cover S&H.
There is no need for you to be troubled by that rifle for another minute.
Drive to Chicago and turn it in with one of their “gun buyback programs”
You could get a $50 gift card to a grocery store!
And make our streets safer!
Take a trip! Go hunting with Sarah! Nice rifle though!
The odds are small you will ever need/use it. Sell it and use for what you will need/use.
It is gorgeous but if you won’t shoot it, sell or trade to someone who hunts elk and moose, or is going on safari. Buy something in 30-06 or .308 that you will shoot like an M-1A.
Something to think about in case the government shuts off ammunition supplies to citizens!
You can bring the rifle to a firearms store and trade it for an equally valuable bolt action, or whatever action you prefer, in a chambering that you would more likely use for whitetail: .308, 30-06, .270, 30-30, etc.
Good Luck, again.
KEEP IT!
You may never be able to get another!...........
BTW, What part of MS do you live? I was raised there!............
I suggest you just give it to me.
I like this idea. I just watched a video of a man making 1000 yd shots at an eight in steel plate. That would be fun if I could reload ammo. I bought one box for $45, dealer told me if he can get more his cost would be around $68. Ouch.
btw, as an indication of how nutty the gun biz has become; a local ad offers a Bushmaster AR 15 w/ 20 inch barrel for $1900 or best offer. A bit rich for me...
I live about 35 miles SW of Tupelo in the Thorn community.
I was raised in Hickory Flat and have relatives there and Cornersville.........
Very nice rifle.
Re-mount the optics and verify no torque on the tube
ZERO it (both cold bore and warm) for any ammunition you can get (make a dope sheet out to 1000 yards)
Get as much ammunition as you can for it.
Hard case it with dehumidifier packs
KNOW that if you had to, you could reach out at long distance.
Sleep well.
Very nice rifle!
