WASHINGTON Congressman Steve Stockman (R-Texas 36th) released the following statement Monday afternoon.
The White Houses recent announcement they will use executive orders and executive actions to infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms is an unconstitutional and unconscionable attack on the very founding principles of this republic.
I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment.
The Presidents actions are an existential threat to this nation. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is what has kept this nation free and secure for over 200 years. The very purpose of the Second Amendment is to stop the government from disallowing people the means to defend themselves against tyranny. Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible.
Under no circumstances whatsoever may the government take any action that disarms any peaceable person much less without due process through an executive declaration without a vote of Congress or a ruling of a court.
The Presidents actions are not just an attack on the Constitution and a violation of his sworn oath of office they are a direct attack on Americans that place all of us in danger. If the President is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist.

Now, THAT is something I will take vacation and march in support to Washington.
Stockman for President!
I will be there also! Impeach the Constitution Stomper now!
Now there are two I can listen to in Congress, Paul Ryan and this fellow.
If you care to read a few words out of that “little book”, as CNN’s Piers Morgan recently described it, you will find the Constitution was written solely to form a government so that we might enjoy the blessings of liberty. That government was designed from the bottom up with limited powers in order to protect the rights the Creator gives to all humans by right of birth, rights that exist outside of any government.
Members of the media understand that a free press is essential to preserve liberty and protect the country from a government run amok. What member of the media would have said we must preserve the First Amendment just in case some future president attempts to subvert the electoral process or we need to publish some classified Pentagon papers about a costly war? Previously the First was best known for shielding the publishing of pornography. Yet if it had not been for the reporting of Woodward and Burstein during the Watergate coverup, or Daniel Ellsberg’s publishing of a classified study about the Vietnam War who knows what other outrages would have followed?
The right to freely publish expression in speech, media and in internet commentary is such a precious component of protecting our liberties from a government run amok that it is my duty to pass the First Amendment on to my grandchildren just in case some future outrage threatens the country.
Similarly, just because I may not need to fully exercise the pre-existing rights recognized in the Second Amendment that doesn’t relieve me of the duty and obligation to pass those rights fully and unencumbered to my grandchildren just in case they must exercise them to protect their liberty.
The truth is that nobody can know how or why some future government will attempt to break free of the powers the Constitution limits it to, nor how it may abuse the enumerated powers it clearly has. So while I may not really need this particular style of rifle at this moment anymore than I really need 30, 10, or even five or six pages or as few a three or one of Husler Magazine. I am obligated to make sure my children and grandchildren can freely exercise those very same rights or else I have not been a good citizen, nor even a good parent.
defund the white house, hell I;d love to see that, this free loading family paying their own tpilet rolls, food, drinks , parties, and electric , maybe then the dumb iidot might understand the standard of living has got very expensive

Straight forward and easy to understand.
Excellent!
Good ol’ Texas Republicans. Glad I’m from this State.
If I remember....that’s what the king was doing...hence....the revolutionary war came into full bloom.
I just called (202-225-1555) congressman Stockman’s office in DC. Spoke w/a very pleasant gentleman and thanked him for the congressman’s comments. Call his office to show your support. This country is still run by the “people”, but we need to show our representatives that we will back them when they are willing to challenge obama.
[[I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary]]
Really congressan? Just liek you sought to ‘thwart’ the supreme court and the administration from trampling our constitutional rights with obamacare3?
Pffff- not holding my breath- we’ll see how seriosu you are when the government withholds federal money from your state- You and hte rest of hte republicans ALLOWED the administration to trampel our constitutional rights already, and you allowed the administration to bully the supreme court into making a FALSE judgement that stripped us of our rights- so yeah- not impre4ssed with yor claim congressman
God bless Congressman Stockman and God bless Texas!
I bet Boehner is having a heart attack about now. My God, this Texan might actually take action, can’t have that, not politically correct, too strong, causing trouble, can’t do it, don’t rock the boat, etc.
Glad to hear someone standing up to Obama’s power grab.
Rep. Stockman better be sure he has the backing of the GOP leadership before putting out such a statement.
Otherwise, it could blow up in his face.

That said, I do admire his stand on the issue. It is more than many of the jelly-for-spine Pubbies have spoken.
Well, we here pretty much all agree with him and hope he stands by his words.
Now lets watch the GOP either back him as they should constitutionally do (since he’s right) or cave as usual.
Not getting my hopes up.
“that doesnt relieve me of the duty and obligation to pass those rights fully and unencumbered to my grandchildren just in case they must exercise them to protect their liberty.”
Don’t sweat it: sure, they’ll lose their ability to protect themselves...but just look at all the wonderful debt the Feds are creating for them, instead.
