Her death came just hours after she went to the hospital seeking help for severe abdominal pain.
Jamie was seeking help; she was in extreme pain, family friend Kemper Kimberlin said.
Hospital staff reported Jamie wouldnt cooperate, in too much pain to even lie down, so employees asked a Pauls Valley police officer to assist.
Unfortunately, when police found two prescription pills that didnt belong to Jamie, police took her to jail for drug possession.
Thats where Jamie sat for less than two hours before being found unresponsive.

How sad. That will cost them.
Tragic ending to another over-reaction or no tolerance plan?
that plus maybe she didn’t have insurance so the hospital got rid of her quickly.
A lot of unanswered questions, like, where/how did they find the pills? In her purse? Did they have a warrant? Is it possible she got a couple pain pills from someone (ill-advised but understandable) due to the current/immediate pain she was experiencing? Why would the hospital (even the police) not be more concerned with her pain/pregnancy than letting her go to jail?
The questions concerning police action are worth asking, but I’m wondering how the hospital is going to explain releasing her as fit for incarceration? A ruptured ectopic pregnancy could have been discovered if they had done their job.
Let the ass-covering begin!! Both the hospital and the sheriff's office should be ashamed of themselves and held to account. If the woman is in that much pain, you don't throw her in a cell.
Yet another sad example of why I specifically avoid both hospitals and LEO’s. Worthless 90% of the time; never available when you really need them....and both can and will kill you.
Sounds like a criminal prosecution is in order, not that it will happen.
Over 2 (two) prescription pills! Who says we aren’t becoming a police state?
This is horrible. My sister had an EP lucky for her she already had a doctor who knew what her pain was probably caused from and helped her before she died like this poor lady did.
very tragic
my guess is they ( ER staff and LE) thought she was a drug seeking addict putting on a show to get more narcotics and since this was an ectopic pregnancy she wasn’t obviously pregnant. Drug addicts pull this sort of thing in ER’s frequently.
shame on the ER staff that has become so jaded in their profession that they assume the worst about the patients they see before thoroughly assessing what was really going on
It doesn’t say what the prescription pills were? Is it possible she had something that belonged to another child or her Mom on her...this would not be unusual for a woman to have on her....
Years ago I was on some medication for an irregular heartbeat. I had run out of medicine and then landed in ER on a Holiday night. I told them who my Dr. was (he was on their Board) and what happened. I answered no to the questioning about illegal cocaine or drug use. They didn’t ask me if I c/h/b/ pregnant. I had no insurance and was shocked by the bill; they charged me for drug test and pregnancy test. They said they can’t believe anything any patient tells them. I said fine, I’m not paying for it because I’m not a criminal. I finally threatened to take it to the Board and the news station before they dropped it.
Just my opinion even if it was narcotice that’s pretty bad to get locked up for 2 pills. Obviously she would have already taken them if she was “feamin”.
Dreadful. RIP.
Coming soon to a gun-owner near you...
That’s why I posted this. Gov’t run hospitals and so many things that make you a criminal.
The police will say she was released from Doctor care.
There is no situation on God’s green Earth, that the presence of a police officer will not make worse.
