Here are the looting thugs:

Kentrell Washington, 18, of Las Vegas; Jimmy Hall, 18, of Brooklyn; Dallas Anglin, 18, of Montclair, N.J.; and Shaquille Stokes, 20, of Manhattan.
Hall, a freshman, is the team's No. 2 scorer. He and Stokes, a sophomore transfer from the University of Hawaii, started in six of the team's seven games this season. Washington and Anglin, both freshmen, have seen regular playing time off the bench. All four players are on athletic scholarships.

As soon as I saw the words “basketball” and “burglaries”, something just clicked in my mind.
Yep, that was it.

These days college basketball coaches spend half of their time coaching and half bailing their players out of jail.

Shocked I tell you, why the two on each end look like fine young scholars pursuing academic excellence.
What, oh what, could have led them astray?
Perhaps falling in with the wrong crowd.
How's that for masking what I'm really thinking :^)

When I was in college I would swim every day at noon. There were a bunch of Eric Holder's people who always hung out in the locker room when they weren't playing basketball. At the beginning of one semester I brought money with me to pay for books and put in my locker. When I got back, my lock had been cut and my money emptied from my wallet. I knew who it was. Everybody knew who it was, even the guard who defended them.
Eric Holder's people have a civil right to stead from non-Eric Holder's people.

As if we needed more proof that college athletes are woefully underpaid. This would never happen at USC or Auburn.

And then there’s this.
“Last month, Hofstra suspended two other players, Taran Buie and Jamal Coombs-McDaniel, for violating team rules. The suspensions were for two preseason events and two regular-season games. Hofstra cited student privacy laws in providing no further information in that case.”
Taran and Jamal. Hmmmm !
