The Walt Disney Company announced today it has agreed to acquire Lucasfilm and is planning Star Wars Episode 7 for 2015! This is following such big purchases as Pixar and Marvel Entertainment. Here is the full press release:

I’m glad Lucas did this. Otherwise it would have been Celebrity Star Wars.
Plus he would risk jumping the shark.
Perhaps he already has as I have not seen 2 and 3.

Will they screw up the Star Wars franchise EVEN MORE, or will they make something Star Wars related that is actually watchable?
Hopefully George Lucas will have NOTHING to do with ANYTHING Star Wars related for the rest of forever, cause’ nothing but good things can come from him being MILES AWAY FROM THINGS THAT I LIKE.

If I remember correctly, the original plan called for nine movies. Mark Hamill was contracted to be in Episodes 7,8 and 9.
I hope they have money left over to make the movie after they spend a billion on RFID chips for their theme park guests.
That would be the best thing to happen to Star Wars in forever.
Unless you have a taste for a combination of moronic dialog and incredibly bad acting which no amount of special effects could save, don't bother. That shark was jumped, stumped, and beaten into a coma.

If they follow what happened in the books it’ll be really dark and depressing. The fall of the Empire actually has a lot of bad repercussions, mostly because it’s a huge Empire with large military forces not particularly willing to hang it up just because some dude they never met died.
