BEAULIEU-SUR-MER, - A woman participating in an aquabike lesson in France said she was attacked by an octopus that immobilized her legs with its tentacles.
The woman, whose name was not released, said she was aquabiking -- riding an exercise bike submerged in water -- in Beaulieu-sur-Mer when she felt something moving around her legs, The Local.fr reported Friday.
The woman soon discovered an octopus had wrapped its tentacles around her legs, stopping her from pedaling.
Experts said the octopus was likely attracted by the movement in the water.

What’s next? Aqua-trampoline?
Why does this just sound stupid?
Unlike your typical stationary bike or treadmill, when you perform exercises in a pool, your body pushes against the water, increasing resistance and ultimately burning more calories in the end.
Water exercises are especially beneficial for overweight people, who are ready to get in shape, because the moves put less pressure on joints, making them safer to perform
Why is it more gentle to your joints than a terrestrial stationary bicycle?
buoyancy
That did it.. I’m hungry and it’s lunch time.. You devil.. :)
Last we heard of him he was walking down the beach with a smile on his face mumbling, “Thanks for calling it an octopus”.
:)
Ohhhhh.....training for the Tour De France.
The effect of gravity is reduced by 50% if submerged to the waist, 75% at the chest and 90% at the neck. AquaBiking is good therapy for all lower body joint injuries, including professional athletes.
Another good therapeutic exercise is squats in waist-high water. As one goes through the range of motion from waist to neck, buoyancy counteracts total weight-bearing by 50% to 90% of body weight. The effect of buoyancy is smallest when the knees and ankles are least flexed and greatest when the knees and ankles are most flexed. This is therapeutic for persons with joint injuries that have greater sensitivity to pain and likelihood of re-injury with the degree of flexion. Additional weight can vary from a simple weightless dowel to a 45-pound bar and four 45-pound plates.
Octopi are smart buggers. We used to catch them in the trawl when we were shrimping and if we left them alone it would take them maybe 1-2 min to figure out how to get off the sorting table and back into the water, even when they couldn’t see the water.
This is so freaky, as I can remember a nightmare I had, about 60 years ago, in which I was attacked by an octopus while I was on the seafloor.
