Mass grave in London reveals how volcano caused global catastrophe
The Guardian (UK) ^ | 8-4-2012 | Dalya Alberge

When archaeologists discovered thousands of medieval skeletons in a mass burial pit in east London in the 1990s, they assumed they were 14th-century victims of the Black Death or the Great Famine of 1315-17. Now they have been astonished by a more explosive explanation – a cataclysmic volcano that had erupted a century earlier, thousands of miles away in the tropics, and wrought havoc on medieval Britons.

Scientific evidence – including radiocarbon dating of the bones and geological data from across the globe – shows for the first time that mass fatalities in the 13th century were caused by one of the largest volcanic eruptions of the past 10,000 years.

Such was the size of the eruption that its sulphurous gases would have released a stratospheric aerosol veil or dry fog that blocked out sunlight, altered atmospheric circulation patterns and cooled the Earth's surface. It caused crops to wither, bringing famine, pestilence and death....

Don’t worry, the EPA recently introduced strict regulations on permissible volcano emissions.

It is interesting that they cannot pinpoint the volcano that probably caused this mass die-out.

They never knew it was coming and most probably never knew why it was happening.

sulphurous gases ... cooled the Earth's surface

The left is working to demonize an escape route to their world socialism trap: geoengineering. Statistically the explanation of most human mass deaths is mass executions ordered by a leftist leader.

I think that we can all agree that climate change affects volcanic activity. Just kidding.

But what’s scary about this article isn’t that the Atlantic Ocean might rise 6 inches over the next 50 years, but rather we have ZERO PREPARATIONS for an event like this again. No serious storage of food, no plans to quickly move agriculture to areas where food could still grow. Nothing. Just like for an EMP.

...and we’re the kooks. LOL.

“6 billion people. We probably need some population rationalisation with a volcanic eruption now.”

The above is a comment below the article. It looks like the left is further along with their genocide planning than even I suspected. They have a new term: “Population Rationalisation”

NEVER understand the capability for evil in these people.

From the article:Would have? Really? Where's the proof. Or is this just more journolist surmising?

If they are sure this is what happened, why not drop the words "would have" from the sentence above?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1258

In the year 1258, there was an enormous tropical volcanic eruption in January.

“One of the largest volcanic eruptions of the Holocene epoch occured, possibly from a tropical location such as Mount Rinjani, Indonesia; El Chichón, Mexico; or Quilotoa, Ecuador. Observed effects of the eruption include the following anecdotal accounts: dry fog in France; lunar eclipses in England; severe winter in Europe; a “harsh” spring in Northern Iceland; famine in England, Western Germany, France, and Northern Italy; and pestilence in London, parts of France, Austria, Iraq, Syria, and South-East Turkey.”

yes, and the fines on those volcanic emissions will be used to produce public education materials on global warming, start a carbon exchange, provide weather stripping for poor people, and train unemployed workers to install new energy efficient lightbulbs

they didn’t necessarily starve or freeze to death all at once requiring mass pit burial

I get the sarcasm, but seriously, volcanic eruptions are the elephant in the Global-Warming room that everyone wants to ignore.

Volcanic eruptions produce about 95% of all the CO2 - human activity accounts for less than 5%. So even if every car was banned, every factory and power plant shut down, every wood fire put out - we'd STILL have 95% of the CO2 going into the atmosphere - virtually no difference!!!

And if so it could all happen again today or tomorrow.

I wonder if there is much evidence of this in other cultures like India and China. We've been lucky the last 200 years even with Krakatoa and Tambora causing some problems. The Tunguska event could have been way worse if it would have happened a few hours later. But something bad will happen again.
