WASHINGTON, D.C. – Earlier this week, House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-04) and Water & Power Subcommittee Chairman Tom McClintock (CA-04) sent letters to the Bureau of Reclamation and the Office of Management and Budget requesting information on the use of American tax dollars to pay for a controversial Department of the Interior (DOI) survey on the need to remove four privately owned dams on the Klamath River in Oregon and California.

In 2011, DOI distributed a nationwide survey with the questionable purpose of measuring the societal, non-economic value of removing the four dams. The survey consisted of several waves of mailings, some of which included a two dollar bill used as an incentive to respond and a letter stating that DOI will send an additional $20 if the completed survey is returned before a specific deadline.

Mr. President, you can keep your dam money — which is really my dam money, since you got it from me when I paid my dam taxes. You should mind your own dam business and not push your Leftist dam policies down my throat.

Let's go back to the history of the dams.

Remove the Hoover dam and see what happens. They were built for a specific purpose. Let's not dismiss water rights and land rights with a blink.

He did what?

Using the same marketing that Nielsen uses to get their TV ratings?

2 Bucks? Did they throw in $5 or $10 bucks into envelopes for people with ethnic sounding names - in certain areas? Nielsen does that..

Dams produce cheap, clean energy.

We can’t have that.

While reading the Hastings McClintock letter it struck me that a great amount of time and money in DeeCee is spent just trying to control abuse of privilege, fraud, deceit, corruption and extortion.

Excuse me, but isn’t it unconstitutional for the POTUS to spend any of our taxpayer dollars without congressional approval?

I guess BO has gotten so accustomed to doing what he wants with our money without any congressional objection or threat of impeachment, that he feels like an emperor. Sad, sad, sad that our own elected officials refuse to stop this evil tyrant. He’s as dangerous as any islamic terrorist, imo.

“Clean” doesn’t matter ..... I bet if you do some digging you will find that enviro-whackos are complaining that it is messing up the fish or the habitat or something like that & they want the dams removed. These are PRIVATE dams .... looks like the Obama enviro-police are trying to build a file of citizen complaints (where none exist) to justify moving in on the dam owners. This is more than scary. Also, shutting off oil, shutting down coal plants, now going after hydroelectric .... not much left that is an efficient source of energy ..... Obama is not going to stop until he knocks America down to the same 3rd world country level as the village in Kenya where he was born.

Doc Hastings will kick Obama’s butt on this one.
Doc was in local politics in the Tri-Cities, when I was still in High School 40 odd years ago.

There was a HUGE controversy with regard to the release of water from these dams during the Clinton years. Don't quite remember how this was all settled.

You can bet if there are Democratic donors whose homes/cottages are located on lakes created by these dams their needs will trump all others.
