This is your Turner Classic Movie channel alert!
Tonight...Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), 8pm est
"A drama critic learns on his wedding day that his beloved maiden aunts are homicidal maniacs, and that insanity runs in his family."
Haven't seen this one before. Hope it's funny.
You will LOVE it. It is Cary Grant at his comedic best! It is one of my favorites.
LOVE this movie. I will watch pretty much anything with Cary Grant in it.
What a coincidence, Vision! Just the other day, Keith was telling me about this picture. He said it’s a good one.
Vision, you will love it! It’s funny as hell!
I especially love TCM’s 31 Days of Oscar, which just ended. A month of the best movies ever made. Wish that could be done more often than once a year.
Agreed. Grant was a master. Hard to believe he never received an Oscar (except for the ridiculous Lifetime Achievement BS).
He was a fascinating man who created the Cary Grant character on and off the screen and never veered from it. In his later years, he said, “I created Cary Grant, and I don’t know whether Archibald Leach became Cary Grant, or Cary Grant became Archibald Leach. But the two became one.”
And we can all thank God for that!
“CHAARGE!”
It’s hilarious.
You haven’t seen it before? Well, it has Cary Grant. What else do you need to know?
LOL
Cary Grant alert!
make sure to watch for Cary’s triple-take at the window box when he discovers a body in it. Pure comedic genius.
It is funny and entertaining in the patient, well-crafted construction, and gentle way movies used to be made.
No in-your-face shock value, gratutious profanity or layered social commentary as is de rigeur by the current crop of rudderless filmmakers.
Like the vast majority of movies from the truly Golden Age, it respects its audience and in doing so, life itself.
Hi Gina, good to hear.
I love this movie. I have it on DVD.
If you like Cary Grant (who doesn’t?), you will LOVE this movie.
So funny.
I’ve rather patterned my life after the crazy Uncle “Teddy”.
