And she was gonna’ be a doctor ?
A tourist from Tennessee waltzed into one of the most secure sites in the city and politely asked a cop if she could check her weapon.
Instead, she was dragged out in cuffs.

It wasnt a nice thing to do to Nana
That was a gross over-reaction on the part of NYPD and the rent-a-cop. Looks like another good reason for those of us in the Bible belt to avoid NYC, as if we needed one.
A responsible CHL holder checks the laws in the State to which they are traveling before they leave.
When I went to NY a month ago I KNEW I couldn’t carry my gun. I didn’t even need to check the laws.
For someone so bright, she is awfully stupid. First rule of traveling with your gun, know the laws of the state you are traveling to.
When my mother got a CCW because she travels, I made simple summaries of what she could and could not do, how do carry, if the CCW was reciprocated in that state, dealing with the common Indian reservations she goes through and which ones to avoid, etc. and made her a booklet. I update it for her every year, even though most times I now drive her.
I’m sorry but this lady is just incredibly obtuse. Any gun owner who doesn’t know about New York City’s horrible gun laws is simply pitiful!
why do people want to volunteer info about their own personal firearms like this? KEEP YOU STUPID MOUTH SHUT
There is absolutely no reason for someone from the South to go to New York.
The reaction by New York officials seems extreme. She should pay her bail then go back to her home state requiring New York to apply for extradition-which they will not do. The governor of her home state would not send her back to New York even if New York requested it.
Article IV, Section 1, also amendment the 2nd. Plus, she did not show intent to cause any harm.
Under the law, however, she is presumed guilty and will never be innocent again...
Two can play:
They should pass a law in Tennesee that says
(1) that any person, including law enforcement or mayors,
(2) who arrests, prosecutes, or convicts a Tennesee concealed handgun licenese holder for a weapons violation when said CHL holder, if a concealed license holder in that state, would otherwise be legally in possession of the weapon;
(3) commits a felony against the People of the State of Tennesee punishable by no less that 20 years in prison, no possibility of parole.
Silly lady, thought she lived in a free country.
It was stupid of her to assume. All I can say to her is to get a good lawyer or she will be facing jail time.
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
Now she may lose her right to carry in Tennessee. Depending on the charges. New York’s unconstitutional Sullivan Law has been in effect for damn near a century.
What a Maroon!
I’ve never been a big fan of boycotts, but this is one I could get behind, gun owners should make an issue of this and boycott NY, in a very big way, there were approximately a million and a half guns purchased in December alone, that’s a lot of gun owners, many new owners. I have no reason to go to NY at the moment, but I would be willing to write a letter in support of a boycott, to whom ever in NY would be appropriate. If all gun rights organizations got behind such a movement, it could have an impact.
Meanwhile bumberg allowed the occupiers to rape, steal property and break multiple laws, nyc is really the theatre of the absurd
It is a pity that this happened anywhere in these United States. I guess she wasn’t aware she left when she entered NYC.
