ROFL!!!
All My Children-- LAST episode today--
What an ending--
My grandma watched this show, so I have had years of exposure....
In high school, my sister and I got hooked. heard the show was ending- so decided to check in this week.
Jackson exits with a "Frankly my Dear" moment to Erica-- but the kicker was the Dallas reference.
Good ol' JR Chandler has a gun, hiding somewhere. Aims at dad- Eric runs after Jackson. Does she step in front of the line of fire?
Gun shot rings out- screen goes black..
LOL!!! Not Who Shot JR-- but who did JR shoot?
Have to admit a funny ending.
other than that-- this week was the epitome of why I stopped watching these shows. Political crap- and SAPPY!
but funny ending
They can show them in reverse order. Would any one notice?
Obviously it will have to have a smaller cast. Predictions are that even if they get it going (as of now, they’re having a better time keeping the “One Life” folks for the switchover to internet), it might not last long. It definitely won’t last if they try to charge it a la pay-per-view. Personally, I’m hoping that stupid cooking show to replace AMC will bomb, because the soap fans, despite what that idiot Brian Frons claims, will NOT be watching it. If that happens, we might actually see the shows come back to ABC daytime.
You haven’t seen the last of JR Ewing. The latest version of Dallas will air on TNT in the summer of 2012.
When I was a kid, my mom used to watch As The World Turns. I’d watch a little in the summer. Next summer, I would be amazed to find they were talking about the same things they were yacking about 12 months ago.
Naah. I openly admit to watching ALL the remaining network soaps. Blame my former fiancee for getting me hooked a decade ago. Now, unfortunately, I’m going to end up with withdrawal symptoms. Frankly, I’d much rather watch the soaps than the depressing news or the Slick Willard Network (AKA Fox) or most other crapola on tv (I loathe reality shows). I get all my news here, so I can keep my soaps playing in the background... for however long they have left to go.
It will be interesting to see how that turns out... I watched the original from the time I was a little kid.
They brought his brother back from the dead so I suppose there’s no reason they couldn’t resurrect J.R. from Hell.
Remember, they had some “Dallas” movies after the finale. J.R. didn’t shoot himself and go to hell with Joel Grey’s Satan.
There was a reason I got sucked in 30 years ago.
Her character was killed off, plus she (obviously) doesn’t look like that anymore. Brenda Strong will be playing Bobby’s new wife.
Do you know where they filmed it at?
They still have daily tours and banquets and such at the old southfork ranch.
In that link I sent you (she is a writer and exec producer) they will film it in Dallas AND at Southfork.
I’ve watched ABC soaps all my life. I love the medium. Very sad AMC and OLTL are ending. I’d rather watch my soaps then any of the other crap on tv now.
I gave up on the original show after I wasted that one season only to find Bobby was actually in the shower the whole time. I didn't remember they killed Pamela off.
I used to have a girlfriend who called this show, “All My Chickens”.
Linda Gray will be back as Sue Ellen. They never officially showed them killing off Pamela, she “left” the show after her car accident, and after her brother Cliff tracked her down, she was revealed to be dying of some illness. Some sources claim her character wasn’t “officially” killed off, but the last appearance of her character on the show (albeit played by another actress) said she was “dying.” Of course, that is meaningless in soap opera land, so they could always bring her back and say she survived her illness...
You peaked my curiosity. I think it was Christmas or New Years the country music channel ran a marathon of the whole first season. I enjoyed it and my wife laughed because I was able to tell her what the episode was about in the first five minutes of each episode. I have the same gift for episodes of the Twilight Zone. I will have to see if I can get Dallas on Netflix and see what happened after I gave up.
Well, I have to warn you, the show deteriorated in quality from the mid to late ‘80s. I still stuck with it right up to the end in 1991, though. They had gimmicks later on like having Larry Hagman’s old “I Dream Of Jeannie” co-star, Barbara Eden, as a nemesis (they brought her to the show when Larry refused to participate in the “Jeannie” reunion movie). Most of the original cast had departed by the end, basically just leaving Bobby & J.R. (and poor Bobby had lost another wife by then — shot by none other than Susan Lucci (!) in a guest appearance).
“I used to have a girlfriend who called this show, All My Chickens.
We always called it “All my Chitlins” being from the South.
On a reminiscent note, My mom, who passed in 93, and was a Housewife, watched all the ABC soaps, and it brings back fond memories of those days when you stayed home from school sick, but weren’t really all that sick, or were felling better, laying on the couch with your mom bringing you soup. No Cable in those days, so you watched the soaps.
Then in the 80s I was Bar Tending, and that meant getting to be around 4AM every morning and getting up around noon. Afternoons were spent having something to eat, and watching soaps cause all the hot waitresses watched , and it gave you talking points. Zoomed me in on more than a few.
Wife now watches Days of our Lives. Worst written tripe I have ever seen. Same plot over and over, ridiculous characters, and just pathetic in their PC crap. I’ll be glad when it goes off.
