My Governor (Rick Perry) Embarrasses Me Again - Vanity
September 22, 2011 | no dems

Posted on 09/22/2011 7:23:55 PM PDT by no dems

I can hear the heads of the Perry-bots exploding now. But, my Governor, Rick Perry, is embarrassing me again. This is his third Debate and instead of getting better, he's getting worse. Instead of answering the question about Social Security, he got off on State Pension Plans for State Employees. He was asked what he would do if he was President and got a call at 3:00 a.m. informing him that Pakistan's Nuclear weaponry had been taken over by the Taliban; what would he do? He never answered the question and started talking about making sure India knows that we're their friend. He tried to discredit Romney two times and both times he came across as "not knowing what he's talking about" and making false claims. More than once in the Debate, Romney (the RINO) and Senator Rick Santorum, made this professional politician, who became a millionaire off of political cronyism, look like the friggin' light-weight he is. If you were disappointed in George W., you'll be on Prozac during the Perry Administration. DAMN! I'M EMBARRASSED!

Wrong. Perry opposes bringing in the federal government. He made border enforcement a state matter, and said that the border fence tramples states’ rights. Given that position, he can’t complain that Obama or Bush (the man that made him) failed to do enough at the federal level.

Oh dear, here we go: Heard this morning on either Imus’ or Ingram’s show that a large part of Texas’ new jobs went to illegal immigrants; he is whistling for more of them (illegals) by providing immense discounts for college tuition’s to illegals;; thanks to Merck’s $250.000 donation to the National governor’s organization he may have received a great deal more than $5000 for his campaign; is soft on the NAFTA highway, thus supports regional government; his mandate on Gardasil. No government should mandate a product of any kind.

Tonight I thought Rick Santorum made some good points. Gingrich always does. But I really liked Herman Cain. He has a viable plan for tax reform’; he wants to get rid of the EPA, which has done real damage to businesses of all sizes with bureaucratic regulations. He is a well rounded man with a very high success rating. He is at home in his skin and has a great sense of humor, so at this point I trust Herman Cain. I also like his self control, and his eloquence.

Perry will be the nominee. Sorry, but it will happen.

Perry really comes across as weak. I’ll hold my nose and vote for him over Obama,
You won't have to. He will not be running against Obama. He will NOT get the nomination. Republicans aren't that stupid.

“What Perry has done—what Texas has done—is to put 400 Texas Rangers on the border and supplemented that with NG helicopters.”

What year did Perry/Texas do this? Because sometimes I wonder if he hasn’t changed his colors the past year, or so, to position himself to run for POTUS.

“Rick Santorum, a doing nothing going nowhere also ran, pinned Perry’s ears to the wall on subsidizing illegals’ education at the expense of native born Americans. Perry puked all over the stage on his answer.”

Perry is not ready for prime time.

I gather you prefer Romney, since he is the beneficiary of a Perry collapse. ______________________________________________________________ Well, you "gather" incorrectly. Actually, I prefer Cain and Gingrich. But, I would vote for Romney before I'd vote a dolt with the IQ of a can of Spam who can't put a complete sentence together. Perry is pitiful.

Yup! I’ve always said that Perry looks like he is flying by the seat of his pants. Definitely not presidential material.

“The Texas legislature—the entire Texas state legislature—thought in-state tuition was a good idea...it was done as it should have been done and is a reflection of the will of a majority of Texas citizens.”

There were at least two representatives in the House that thought it was a bad idea at the time. But HB 1403 is just one more indication of the sad state of the GOP in Texas—the party is and has been willing to sell out the citizens of the state to make it easy for the large globocorporations on the border and big cities to drive down wages, minimize worker safety, and frankly, give away the state to their biggest donors. Conservatives in Texas, like those in DC, are sent home after every session, told we should be happy with what we’ve got. Since 1994, every statewide elected office has been held by a Republican. What have conservatives got to show for it? Rick Perry and George Bush selling the state to whatever company shows up with the cash. Illegals getting cut rate tuition and 80% of new jobs going to them. Doubling of the size of state government. Oh, but at least Dan Patrick is there to pretend to hold the GOP ‘conservatives’ feet to the fire, and we hear rumblings about textbooks being revised occasionally. /sarc

So if you think it’s all about Rick Perry’s articulation, think again. Rick Perry is articulating exactly his beliefs when it comes to principled conservative, because he isn’t one. If Texans—including Rick Perry—were really concerned about shrinking government, they’d have started at home a long time ago by running the RINOs out.

I think Santorum delivered the most killing blow to Perry when he crystalized that Perry was providing preference to illegal immigrants over US citizens of other states in providing discounted tuition. That it was not an issue of being heartless as Perry claimed because they could still attend the schools but that they should not be given tuition preference over citizens. A lot of light bulbs went off.

How do you know Rick Perry is lying about securing the border? TX has 1800 miles of border with Mexico. He has Texas Rangers on the ground. He has asked Obama for National Guard, drones and other aviation assets and all has been refused. TX has spent 400 million trying to secure the border. This is a federal responsibility. Remember than Obama has sued Arizona over their law. Obama won’t cooperate at all with Governor Perry. TX can not afford to spend billions and billions of dollars on a fence.

[One more thing, I tire of the term “x-Bots”. Sort of like the term “epic”, just so over used. ]

So you are kind of a epic-fail-bot fail bot of epic tired proportion, is that what you are saying?.

I think you will hunt me down for that one.

FR'S PERRY SQUAD RESPONDS:

PURIST!!! Just who do YOU support? I guess SARAH PALIN'S ENDORSEMENT (for Perry's re-election as Governor, not for President) ain't GOOD enough for ya?! Look, at much as we love Cain, Santorum, Bachmann, and Sarah, Perry is the ONLY electable conservative. Do you WANT zero to have a SECOND term? How much did RON PAUL pay you to come here and SMEAR Rick Perry? Well it doesn't matter, this is now a TWO-WAY RACE between Perry and Romney. Better get used to saying PRESIDENT PERRY 'cuz you'll be voting for him!!! Yawl remind me of the folks who used to bash Ronald Reagan. Reagan loved open borders too, ya know. I laugh at your silly claims that Texas' LONGEST SERVING GOVERNOR is unpopular with Texans! So what if approval ratings show 50% of Texans can't stand him and conservative Republicans distrust him?? Here's a little primer for you NON-TEXANS: here in Texas, we vote for your primary OPPONENT if we want to signify you're doing a great job. Yep. That's the way it's ALWAYS been. Just ask ANY Texans (who supports Perry for President, all the other TX freepers opinions don't count). Yeah you Perry haters just don't GET Texas, do ya? I can tell cuz you're always SMEARING Perry by claiming Texans who loved Al Gore and socialism were liberals. Show you how much you know about us Texans. You HATE Texans. You HATE Christians. You HATE States Rights (otherwise you'd realize they are the answer to every issue on the planet aside from securing our border). You WANT 12 year olds to die of diseases rather than be vacinated. You LOVE Mitt Romney, dontsa? And you sound a little fruity to me, too. I think you just might from DU.

< /Perrybot spin mode>

Did I miss any of the talking points they'll use to defend their man? ;-)

Perry had back surgery the end of July. I know it takes several months to be able to tolerate being able to stand in place without considerable pain. Severe pain will interfere with your thought processes. He looked the same way in the last debate However, he gave a speech in Virginia and was fine, however, it was in the morning. These debates are late at night. I am a health professional and notice expressions of pain along with other signs. Not excusing, just making observations. He usually does a lot better in debates, so that is why I think it is a health issue right now. I will vote for him again as I have before.

You are so right, and I am sorry you have to feel that way about your Gov., but facts are facts. He will not be the GOP candidate, not after tonight.
