A unanimous jury ruled in favor of the Kentucky doctor who amputated a portion of Phillip Seaton's penis during an October 2007 circumcision to treat inflammation.
The jury unanimously found that Dr. John Patterson exercised appropriate care when he removed a portion of Seaton's penis after finding cancer and ruled 10-2 against Seaton's claim that Patterson did not properly obtain consent to him before removing his penis.
"We feel the interest of justice has been served," Clay Robinson, Patterson's attorney, told ABC News.

Isnt there a movement to outlaw circumcision in San Francisco? I think the "movement" hasn't gotten on the ballot yet. They do have a couple of idiotic and disgusting "superhero" type propaganda comic books out featuring the adventures of "Foreskin Man".

Apparently, he wanted MORE damages. I’d say enough was received.

I agree with you. This is bs. I’ve never heard of emergency cancer surgery. The doc should have called off the procedure and let him get a second opinion. This is nuts.

Yeah, that’s what I had read about in the WSJ. It sparked quite a discussion on the comment board.
Interestingly, the movement seemed to be backed mostly by women, who claimed that there uncircumcised partners claimed to have more satisfying sex than their circumcised partners, who were more likely to be viagra users.
I told her that if she and her circumcised friends were experiencing sexual dysfunction at an early age, they might look for some other reason than circumcision because I didn’t recall anyone complaining about early sexual dysfunction back in the seventies.

I didn’t read anything about where the surgery was done, whether or not it was an HMO, where the cost could have trumped the consent.

I have a hard time believing that the doctor could tell it was cancerous just by looking at it.
That requires biopsies from everything I’ve been told by every doctor I’ve ever talked to.
Even so, he could have finished up and addressed the issue later. I can’t believe that it was so immediately life threatening that the guy couldn’t have gone back later, better informed and prepared.
And really, if it was cancer and he decided not to receive the *treatment*, that after all, is his choice.
I think the doctor was wrong in making that kind of rash decision.

Do you mean the evidence wouldnt stand up in court? I couldn't say. You've have to examine his briefs.
Cheers!
