forget money and vouchers. Build a cabin style bunkhouse and let people who are down on their luck stay in a bunk like a shelter for a disaster. Cabin provides shelter from the elements, but nothing more. Watch how quick they figure out how to get back on their feet staying in a bunkhouse with the other losers.

We are being overrun by an underclass of people born to welfare recipients who are incapable and unwilling to support themselves. This growing underclass of people will (and in many places, already has) outvote the producing class of people. As a result, we as producers will be paying higher and higher taxes to pay for the lifestyles of these parasites. On top of that, they will vote themselves more lavish lifestyles at our expense. We won't even be able to afford to have children of our own because we'll be paying so much in taxes as a result.

Therefore, if I could, I would require that every welfare recipient be spayed or neutered.

Add in; “Recipients give up the right to vote for the period of time they are on welfare.”

I like the Mennonite way.

You belong to a church or other similar organization which you have a social contract with and you agree to refuse any other assistance while devoting a percentage of your income to pay for others and your assistance.

Beginning sounded a bit like the 1996 “Welfare Reform Act” that was not forced on states or “allowed exceptions.”

Is this for all welform recipients, sounds like it is only for illegals.

I would like to see: NAME THE FATHER............

Unless and until they are willing to name the father, they would get NO/NONE/ZILCH assistance of any kind.

Go after the father/fathers FIRST, make them pay one way or another. If they have jobs, take $$$ from their salary. If they do not have jobs, PUT THEM IN JAIL or castrate them.

IF in jail, at least they won't be dropping any more of their seed for us to take care of. OR; they have the option to be castrated, they can go free. Their choice.

No reason for us to keep paying for their Jollies. Until the Gov't does something like this, Welfare WILL NEVER BE REFORMED. animals will still be animals.

I favor providing serious incentives for people to get off welfare and on their own. However, the flip side is greater social worker (government) involvement with all its inherant evils and corruption. Not sure how to exactly balance the two, but what they receive should be looked at.

Let me add something.

Lamar Smith is sponsoring an E-Verify bill for employers.
No E-Verify, no workee. This cuts out millions of illegals.

Let me take it a step further;

Require E-Verify for everyone recieving public assistence paid for directly or indirectly with federal tax dollars.

This would also cut off illegal parents being paid for their anchor babies.

Here's the problem: the "new welfare" is Social Security Disability.

No pesky social workers, no job requirements, and a lifetime award.

The extra bonus of this scam is it'll destroy disability for those who really deserve it - AND it'll destroy Social Security for those who paid into it for a lifetime.

The new face of disability? Drug addicts, alcoholics, homeless, criminals, gays with HIV (now much like a bad cold) and inner city folks who can't give up the old ways.

All the pathologies of the old welfare - and none of the benefits.

Have you seen the billboards saying 'We'll fight for YOUR right to Social Security Disability"? Liberal lawyers take a cut from the winnings... new "shops" opening daily is a hint to how much money is involved.

This isn’t welfare exactly, it’s more SS disability, but in my book it’s close enough...

I have a cousin who has had medical issues all his life, lots of surgeries for different things and such. He has a girlfriend. She is healthy. Neither work and they spend their time doing whatever they want to do, and post their adventures on Facebook.

My issue is this....my family never could figure out where they got their money. I know it’s really none of my business, but after months of reading their posts on FB, it got me, and my family, curious.

Well, come to find out, his girlfriend got him on SS/disability, and somehow, she got it for herself too. So now they both get govt. checks every month, for doing nothing, and they spend all their time on a constant roadtrip. They recently went from Tx to Cal just to watch the sun set. Both COULD work, but why would they?

If it were a very unusual situation, it wouldn’t bother me much, but if those two are doing that, how many others are scamming the system? In my humble opinion, if you can walk and talk, and think, you shouldn’t get disability.

Ramble over...

Welfare reform is good - but the spending that’s killing the USA is overall entitlements and Gov’t aid to corporations

Soc. Sec., Medicare, farm subsidies, green energy - that’s where the money is.

No....you’re wrong because you have already conceded the point that welfare is a moral choice and necessary government function.

It is theft by government, period.

End welfare and anything that even smells like welfare, medicare, medicaid, social security, and any other program that is a transfer payment.

This is the work of private charity not government.

This plan is an improvement over what we have now in that it demands some accountability and performance from the recipient, but it still leaves government in charge of administering the welfare assistance. Unlike King Midas, whatever the Gubmint touches sure don’t turn to Gold!

In the old days, there were workhouses for the indigent. This is an idea that we could use today - an employer of last resort.

Also, I remember back in the 50’s, the churches and society ladies raised a lot of money for helping the poor. They also demanded something from the recipients and made sure the recipients were not just useless sponges. We could have it that way again. Why not let everyone have their fun parties and raise money for good causes at the same time? Why let faceless bureaucrats just fritter money away?

The change in welfare over the years was prompted by a loss of religious values. People now are not “deadbeats” or “dopeheads”, they are “sick” or “oppressed”. Personal responsibility is not longer demanded.

I like the sentiment but I think everyone knows given our court system today these would be tossed out as unconstitutional. Further the manpower to check up on these people I don’t want to have to pay for, and further, I seriously don’t want government in any form being able to go big brother on any segment of our population - that just gets abused and bigger in the long run.

My answer to this is simple. And it is far more humane and moral than having government make contracts with people that have all these conditions on it.

The answer is no welfare at all from any level of government. Period. Like it used to be. What they can provide is a printed up list of charitable organizations, churches, food banks, job centers, etc and pass them out to people. That’s it.

No contracts, no castrating people, no random testing, no additional bureaucratic infrastructure to enforce contract provisions (ie no bigger nanny state/big brother state), nothing a court can toss out in a lawsuit.

That’s the solution. Point them to the private groups and charities that do a far better job at helping people in need, than the government ever could.

But what about the CHILREN??????

The whole point of Welfare is for the CHILREN. If you cut off the parent, you cut off the CHILREN!!!

I personally beleive it is time to bring back the poor house. It would be much cheaper to sever large meals for all than it is to have all of them choosing what they get which is not all that nutritous. Each family gets one private room with enough bunks for all and a private toliet and sink.Showers would be communal and segregated by sex.You get no choice in soap shampoo etc.If you want out get a job and earn your way to your won housing.
