Here's the problem: the "new welfare" is Social Security Disability.

No pesky social workers, no job requirements, and a lifetime award.

The extra bonus of this scam is it'll destroy disability for those who really deserve it - AND it'll destroy Social Security for those who paid in for a lifetime.

The new face of disability? Drug addicts, alcoholics, homeless, criminals, gays with HIV (now much like a bad cold) and inner city folks who can't give up the old ways.

All the pathologies of the old welfare - and none of the benefits.

Have you seen the billboards saying 'We'll fight for YOUR right to Social Security Disability"? Liberal lawyers take a cut from the winnings... new "shops" opening daily is a hint to how much money is involved.

RE :"Here's the problem: the "new welfare" is Social Security Disability."

Not exactly new, it was a negative side effect of welfare reform ~ 1990s ....although some of the 60 minutes shows exposing drug addicts buying drugs with the money was supposed to lead to changes by congress so drug addicts and prisoners couldnt get it, if proved.

Many times I think we were better off with welfare. Welfare reform resulted in demands for more and more government jobs for those people which is way more expensive (compassionate conservatism provided those) and just gave them money to contribute to Democrats campaigns, and dont get me started on child support laws.....but welfare was cheaper as long as there are no section 8 vouchers.
