To make a long story short.... as a child, my brother saw a demon outside our window (back then you had to have the tv by a window because of heat generated). He saw this demon "dancing" around our window. He has been plagued w/ nothing but horror.
Now, in these days, he has over come his demons; however, his first born son has seen this demon, a few months ago, outside his window. His first born son described to him ( at first reluctant that he would not be believed) the same thing my brother saw as a child. My brother was stunned.
We need help. I truly believe in satan and his demons to be as real as we are. What can we do? Who do we turn to?
Some may see this as nonsense, but we are living this in real life. Can anyone help us or at least lead us to someone who can help?
Our Lord Jesus is on the throne and is in control. A child might not have the spiritual maturity but certainly their parents do. This should be viewed as an opportunity to lead a soul to a more fuller relationship with the Lord. Not some freaked out event in which they should be fearful. Perfect love casts out all fears.
If they share a genetic neurological quirk it would. Persons with impaired neurological function {known to them or unknown} seem to be more prone to some forms of adverse reactions. High school kids too have known for years that Contact capsules likely used to contain some chemicals that could whack them out.
A lot of these reactions doctors do not even catch. For example you have someone in the family who suffers from depression. Their doctor writes a script for Zoloft or similar. A year or two later everytings fine. Then they get a bad sinus infection or head cold and head to the drug store. Ah a bottle of NyQuil and the remember ah yes mom used to give me that as a child and they buy it and take it.
A few hours later their spouse walks in and finds them in what to most persons be called a psychotic state. They may be seeing the devil and the devil they see may be you. Their TRIP much like that of LSD is their reality. So the spouse calls 911 and off to the ER they go. But the doctor sees the patient and says OK this person is a mental case and needs to be in a mental institute. Then that spouse is powerless. They can't sign for treatment because the person is not mentally there. The spouse may say hey doc what about blood work? Nah can't do that or won't do that. Off to the mental institute they go.
In walks Dr Good Shrink. Rather than discontinue all medications and see the person with out chemical influences the medication lets say Zoloft gets increased then the person is getting close to dieing.
There is a medical term for it many doctors are totatly oblivious too and it's deadly serious. It's called Serotonin Syndrome. It's not Tin Foil Hype I can promise you and give you my word solemn word on it. I've seen it myself. Cold medications when taken in too large of quantities can screw up brain chemistry if chemicals like SSRI's are involved much more so.
I have it on my medical records no Serotonin Altering Medications as does my wife. We are both neurologically impaired. She was the one who I speak of but no cold medication was involved. It was an adverse medication reaction to SSRI's. I can't take them either. I have to be careful about what cold meds I take. But the medication I take for my seizures {Xanax} helps prevent a medication from doing it to me. She takes the same medication as well and is likely the reason she didn't die.
My wife thought she was Tess. Tess as in Della Reese on Touched by an Angel. My wife is white but loved that show. What she saw a few days up too the onset became her reality. I had to fight two medical hospitals and a state mobile crisis unit to get her help. No doctor diagnosed her. Six attending MD's and two Shrinks missed it. GOD is mentioned considerably in this thread. GOD gave me the answer. A nudge if you will to type in her medications on a search engine +{ adverse reactions. Yea some may say search engines do that LOL. What are the chances of the first hit being an article written by that very hospitals Pharmacology Professor especially when it isn't that well know a university on a national scale?
I'm not saying it couldn't be a spiritual issue but there are also many neurological reasons as well. Many of which are not a form of mental illness either.
Not to denigrate your beliefs, but just to be upfront, I don't believe in demons, or in any spirits. So I can't give you any advice on dealing with "real" demons.
However, in the domain of eliminating other possibilities...
I've only read a little of the thread. I noticed someone near the top mentioned eliminating the possibility of mental illness. But there's a similar, less extreme, but more common, possibility: Attention seeking behavior.
It is very common, to almost universal, for even well loved children to go through periods (particularly in early teens) when they feel ignored, dismissed or diminished by adults around them.
It could be that the child in question is either hoaxing this event, or has sincerely convinced himself that it happened even if didn't in fact, in order to receive attention.
Is it common in the family for members undergoing illness, or other troubles, to be showered with prayers, counseling, and other attentions? Has some other family member been attended recently in this fashion?
If this seems likely, it might be best to take the child's concerns seriously, but also to avoid pampering. Instead treat him as old enough to take the lead in dealing with the demon. Give him prayers and other strategies that he can use himself. Praise him for his bravery and maturity, but gently chastise him when he seeks pity and indulgences. Don't let him feel isolated, but encourage independence. Avoid excessive intervention by others. Avoid involving outsiders like "exorcists."
You would also want to normalize or "de-dramaticize" the phenomena. You might explain that it is commonplace for believers, indeed for all humans, to be beset by demons; and that he is actually lucky to be able to "see" his demon, instead of being influenced secretly and surreptitiously as most others are.
I know it may be difficult, given your beliefs, but if he is doing this for attention, you don't want it to turn into a whole syndrome which he might "milk" for years, ultimately debilitating his life.
These strategies might even work for dealing with a "real" demon, but like I say, that would be for a non-skeptic to evaluate.
prayers
True enough about those items and issues.
However,
NONE OF THAT
Explains the SAME OBSERVATION OF THE SAME CREATURE/CRITTER/BEING/IMAGE
generations and geographies apart.
Neurological etc. may foster STRANGE perceptions in some roughly same ball park.
They virtually never foster identical images in different people—genetically related or not.
For example . . .
I think even this example is beyond what you were talking about—i.e. too specific for what you were talking about—but for illustration . . .
Neurological fostered hallucinations or whatever may “see”
a fuzzy, foggy, ominous image of some sort.
[Personally, when it gets ominous, neurological or not, I’d still think demonic forces]
Two different people even with identical neurological problems will
NOT
BOTH see . . .
a figure of identical proportions, identical appearance, identical size, identical apendages, identical clothing, identical eyes, identical head etc. etc. etc.
I have a grandkid that has had them. Kids running temps see devils or spooks it's common. First one our grandkid had scared me and the rest of the family out of our living wits. His dad my have had the same. Kids out grow feverol seizures usually by puberty. The danger is it can be a sign of a far more serious medical condition called epilepsy.
Great story. Thanks.
As I read this thread, I am reminded of the movie “Constantine”:
Angela Dodson: Well, this has been real educational, but... I don’t believe in the Devil.
John Constantine: You should. He believes in you.
It’s late and my sign off time. Something to consider. Search epilepsy +hallucinations and see what happens.
I was making a point, with a sense of humor, that there are phenomena that go beyond positivism.
Spanked!
1. How did Jesus win? He didn't fall for the temptations as most other mortals would. Satan had no power of Him.
2. We know Jesus had power over possession demons as evidenced by His encounter with "Legion" and cast out the demons.
3. Think of how many "Big Name" evangelists weren't immune to temptation.
4. The average individual lacks the power of will to withstand a full press of even a minor demon, no less a major demon. Once a dark presence is felt, clergy should be notified.
5. Mental illness could be a cause but it shouldn't dismiss the possibility of dark presence.
6. Blaming tarot cards, Ouija boards or the similar is like blaming the victim for being raped. Humans by their nature are curious and seek answers. As you have a Guardian Angel, there are a host of evil creatures assigned to destroy the relationship between God and man.
Knowledge may be power in overcoming small temptation, which lead to greater temptation but a man is not match for the overwhelming power of Darkness. Get thee a man of the cloth! A tangential point, Satan and Lucifer aren't interchangeable but are two separate being each with a reason for cast out. Satan for not wanting to serve man. Lucifer for thinking himself to be equal to God.
It is not. That is an abominable analogy.
One CHOOSES to dabble in the occult with tarot cards and ouija boards. Although man does seek for answers, the Bible is readily available to all and God puts it in men's hearts to seek HIM. And it's not feasible that anyone in this country doesn't know that there's a church around the corner to which he can go for answers if need be.
People go to the occult not because they don't know that they can go to God but because they don't want to go to God.
God gives us warnings to not dabble with spiritism for a reason. You go to spirits besides God for answers, you're contacting them. That gives them the opportunity to work in your life after that, at your invitation.
Depending on his religion. A good Catholic Priest could help. Even maybe faking a exorism.
Go to your Minister, Rabbi or Priest and explain to him the problem.
These things can run deep in a child. Good luck.
This is a great insight. I suspect probably all of Europe was like this before Christianity, too. When you read the story of St Patrick, you will see that he released the people from fear - of the druid priests, of the demons they supposedly controlled, and of the whole threatening invisible world. Once Europe was freed from this, it was able to develop intellectually and even materially. The same thing will happen with Africa, too, if it becomes Christian.
It is not. That is an abominable analogy.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. A significant majority of people who use those tools of divination have no expectation of contact an "EVIL" spirit, they may want to contact Granny to see how she's doing on the "Other Side" or if that job in Dallas is going to pan out.
What most don't realize or don't care, evil is opportunistic and will take ever possible advantage to attach to the simple of mind. The same can be said of that short skirt or low cut blouse that looked so great in the shop. Opportunity arises for the slack of jaw with bad intentions.
I was speaking in the generic. Assume I continue to do so.
“In the land of the nails, every monster looks like a hammer.”
For most people, there is a problem of trying to force what they observe that is unknown, into the very restricted template of what is known to them.
For instance, if you had never heard of a polar bear, when you saw one in the wild, would you think it a demon, or an angel? If you guessed that it was an angel, because it was white, and thus was friendly, it could get you in a lot of trouble. However, while it would be safer in that case to assume it was a demon, there is still no pressing need to destroy it because you assume it is evil. It is neither. It is a bear, doing bear things as God intended. Leave it be.
So, as has been suggested by other posters, since what it truly is, is unknown (though what it is assumed to be is a demon), instead of assuming it is a demon, assume that it is an unknown, and seek guidance of someone who might know what it is. Do not rely on your own judgment, find an expert.
Importantly, if you approach an expert and say that you are being menaced by a demon, like most people they will be dubious, even if their expertise is in demons. But if you approach them and say that you do not know what it is, but suspect that it is a demon, and need their expertise, they will be far more inclined to investigate.
And you both need and want them to investigate. That is the bottom line.
