1. How did Jesus win? He didn't fall for the temptations as most other mortals would. Satan had no power of Him.
2. We know Jesus had power over possession demons as evidenced by His encounter with "Legion" and cast out the demons.
3. Think of how many "Big Name" evangelists weren't immune to temptation.
4. The average individual lacks the power of will to withstand a full press of even a minor demon, no less a major demon. Once a dark presence is felt, clergy should be notified.
5. Mental illness could be a cause but it shouldn't dismiss the possibility of dark presence.
6. Blaming tarot cards, Ouija boards or the similar is like blaming the victim for being raped. Humans by their nature are curious and seek answers. As you have a Guardian Angel, there are a host of evil creatures assigned to destroy the relationship between God and man.
Knowledge may be power in overcoming small temptation, which lead to greater temptation but a man is not match for the overwhelming power of Darkness. Get thee a man of the cloth! A tangential point, Satan and Lucifer aren't interchangeable but are two separate being each with a reason for cast out. Satan for not wanting to serve man. Lucifer for thinking himself to be equal to God.
It is not. That is an abominable analogy.
One CHOOSES to dabble in the occult with tarot cards and ouija boards. Although man does seek for answers, the Bible is readily available to all and God puts it in men's hearts to seek HIM. And it's not feasible that anyone in this country doesn't know that there's a church around the corner to which he can go for answers if need be.
People go to the occult not because they don't know that they can go to God but because they don't want to go to God.
God gives us warnings to not dabble with spiritism for a reason. You go to spirits besides God for answers, you're contacting them. That gives them the opportunity to work in your life after that, at your invitation.
I suppose it depends somewhat on what the "average individual" means. In some congregations, probably so. In others I've been in, most members could deal with some pretty fierce demonic attacks rather readily and routinely.I think it had to do with the anointing of the leadership and the quality of the Biblical teaching as well as the modeling by the leadership of Biblical relationships with God and one another.

That would mean that the Bible is merely a collection of mild suggestions. It is NOT.
God makes very clear that such things are to be avoided and that there are stiff consequences if individuals violate God's COMMANDS about such matters.
Violating God's commands about such matters gives satan's forces legal entry to the individual's life and being up to the limit God allows.
Such an allegation as made in #6 above is horrifically destructive to unwitting, untaught, poorly taught, self-indulgent individuals and anyone else who'd take such an UnBiblical statement at face value. Even reading a horoscope has been found to give demonic entry as well as open one up, in some cases, to UFO abductions.
Suppose I'm stopping at the grocery store to pick up a carton of milk and a loaf of bread. This should cost less than $20 so I take a twenty out of my wallet and leave my wallet on the driver's seat of my unlocked car, with the windows rolled down. The thief is wrong for stealing my wallet. But I could have taken precautions.
Using a Ouija board is like sending out a mass invitation to anything that happens to be listening. There's a reason God warned against divination.
