President Obama has all but quit smoking... Which means he's quit nothing.

all but quit smoking Is that like being "a little bit pregnant"?
To: ColdOne
So nothing has changed. He hasn’t quit.
“All but quit” means he has not quit.

This is one extravagance I would have no problem paying my taxes to support. I’d even send him a couple cartons of Camel straights.

As a former smoker who has ‘quit’ many times, I can personally tell you that you either quit smoking or you have not quit smoking. There is no in between. Sort of like being pregnant or not being pregnant - there is no middle ground.

President Obama has all but quit smoking I believe nothing of Mister Gibbs' apparent premeditated lie.
I'm not sure why, however, this brings back the memory of Lloyd Bridges' character in Airplane
"It looks like I picked the wrong day to quite sniffing glue" (et al.)

“All but quit.” I’m an off again, on again smoker. One cig and I am back to addicted with sudden, very hard to control cravings. In a week, I’m back to a pack a day. This statement is laughable to anyone that has ever struggled to quit.
To: ColdOne
all but ?
Nah.
Either you smoke or you don't.
Either you have quit or you still smoke.
[I know from experience -- quit in 2003 and have not all butted since.]

Hate the idea of a Pres. detoxing on the job as well. You are tired AND irritable AND not right for weeks after you stop nicotine.

President Obama has all but quit smoking,President Obama continues to indulge in his smoking habit.

Nobody has all but quit smoking. You either have not quit smoking, or you have quit smoking.

Didn’t I just reply to a thread about O smoking up a storm at the WH? I guess he is one of those guys who quits smoking in between cigarettes.
