Sheer Mayhem Breaks Out When Bridal Store Goes Up In Flames, Leaving All Brides-To-Be Dressless
Business Insider -- War Room ^ | November 19, 2010 | Alyson Shontell

Every little girl dreams of her wedding day. So when a Chicago bridal shop burned to the ground yesterday, it was sheer mayhem. Every dress was lost, leaving mothers and daughters alike in tears.

Chicago Breaking News Center reports one family's devastation: "I promised my daughter this wasn't going to happen to her wedding," Val Kuhl said as she held back sobs near the burned-out store. "I promised her her wedding would go off without a hitch."

Some of the brides have enough time to scramble and find another one. But we feel pretty awful for the brides getting married this weekend. Oh yah, and for the business owners.

Check out the firey video, below.

So their dresses went up in flames before their marriages ... maybe it’s a sign ...

"I promised her her wedding would go off without a hitch."

Unrealistic expectations. Better to advise a child not to sweat the small stuff and remember a wedding isn't about dresses, caterers, and guest lists. It is supposed to be a celebration of the joining of man and wife, and the guests are there to pledge their support of that union.

Show me ONE that has.

Besides my third one, in the Judge's office, standing on the Seal of the State of Texas, with the judge, his clerk, a recorder, and me and the ex and her kid.

The best part was waiting in the courtroom for our appointment, and being entertained by his modified Judge Bean justice. And his arranging us after he figured out the guy with the pony-tail responded to drill-field commands. 'Face-right-face, kiss the bride!' turned out to be funny for a lot of years.

Is she advertising the dress along with your boat? And do you have a picture of the boat?

Dressless Brides???

Isn't that the point?

Isn't that the battle cry of the 113rd Airborne?

Eva’s set up kind of a triage in Palermo’s restaurant to be sure the brides are suppled with wedding dresses.

My daughter donated her wedding dress to an outfit that sells the dresses and uses the money to help breast cancer survivors.

I think my daughter's was mostly perfect. Yes, there was one friend of hers that got off at some train station miles away and didn't know how to get to where we were. (I told her to call a cab and I would pay whatever it cost. End of problem.) Also I didn't discover the dozens of people at an outside bar smoking my cigars until after midnight.

If women would obsess over marriage as much as they do over weddings, the divorce rate would plummet.

Mrs. Dearolddad and I had a very formal wedding: Her father showed up with a white shot gun. (that was 50 years ago)

Young women need to be taught that the wedding really isn’t ALL about HER. It’s about bringing two families together and making them all feel welcome. If women entered the planning stages with that in mind, instead of with self-centered motives, the wedding, and their marriages, would be much better.

All kidding and fun stuff aside, I can see this as being pretty traumatic for these gals. Most of these brides are probably completely fried from months of planning every detail and here they go “up in flames”.
