1960s songbird Joan Baez had a treehouse built -- without walls -- 20 feet high in an oak tree behind her Woodside home because she wanted to sleep with birds.
The folksinging legend, who once performed the civil rights anthem "We Shall Overcome" before a half-million people at Woodstock, fell from that treehouse Wednesday as she climbed down from the platform.

What should you do if a folk singer arrives at your door?
Pay for the pizza and don’t forget to tip.

Listened to the video, and a few others of her. Her voice is too shrill for my tastes, although the baggage she carries doesn’t help my opinion any.

I recall when Al Capp characterized her as Phony Joany in his Lil Abner strip.

“...Al Capp characterized her as Phony Joany in his Lil Abner strip.”
Now Al was a creative guy compared to Joan.
I once criticized an Alabama history textbook for middle school students because it had info about Joan Baez coming to this state to sing at “civil rights” demonstrations but the book made no mention of Helen Keller who is actually from Alabama.

This is the type of nonsense that the Texas textbook controversy centered around. If I recall, McCarthyism is discussed but not in the same grades or classes as The Cold War, Marxism, Stalin, etc.
Makes it easier to divide the negative aspects of Communism from coursework.

And when I call it “nonsense” I am referring to what was in the textbooks presented, not the debate over it.

Keith Richards should stage an intervention. Wise 1960s music icons know that if you're going to hang out stoned in a tree you should do so with Keith Richards. He's likely to fall out first and then cushion your landing when you go.

Sleeping in a treehouse that was purposely built without walls?
She was too cheep.
