I once criticized an Alabama history textbook for middle school students because it had info about Joan Baez coming to this state to sing at “civil rights” demonstrations but the book made no mention of Helen Keller who is actually from Alabama.

This is the type of nonsense that the Texas textbook controversy centered around. If I recall, McCarthyism is discussed but not in the same grades or classes as The Cold War, Marxism, Stalin, etc.

Makes it easier to divide the negative aspects of Communism from coursework.

When I was in high school we had an English teacher who loved explaining such things as “McCarthyism” and all such history from a hard Left perspective. That is... when she wasn’t discussing English Lit and all the phallic symbols we needed to take note of.
