Exploding the “That Wasn’t A Missile” Myth

What appeared to be a missile rose from below the horizon, streaking into the sky off of California leaving a condensation trail identical to the kind that have been filmed being left by a ground-or-sea-to-air launch of a Minuteman missile or ICBM.
First, the Government was inexplicably mum on the topic. Next came a series of sometimes contradictory explanations. Now, days after the event, the finally agreed-upon explanation hits every news station all at once. “It’s the con-trail of a jet returning from across the Pacific.”
There are two glaring problems with this obviously false “explanation.”
First, the shape and density of the con-trail.
A missile launch would be more dense and wide at its base, just as we see in the images we’ve been shown. A jet’s con-trail would be thinner and smaller the further away as it trailed off toward the horizon. We see the opposite in the availale video footage.
Second, the lighting.
In the video footage, we see stratus clouds out over the ocean behind the rising missile. The setting sun is shining on, and illuminating, the bottom of those clouds. On the con-trail, however, the illumination from the sun appears on the right-hand-edge; just as it would if this were a launching missile’s vertically rising con-trail. There is no illumination of the underside of the “jet’s horizontally oriented con-trail” because it is not a jet’s con-trail, it is a vertically-oriented missile’s launch contrail with the sun lighting up the side away from us. Very obviously so.
The Government must think we are at least as stupid as they are if they think this lame explanation is going to “fly.”

Well said, and I don’t have any knowledge of aircraft of any kind. I’m a dumb hillbilly who sees a few contrails every now and then. My only point is that so far the Pentagon says that it didn’t know what it was, but it wasn’t a missile.
My concern here is that our government should know what it was. Somebody in the government should be able to say yes, that was flight so-and-so out of blank.
My real concern is that it was a foreign nation testing our defenses and our resolve. The Chinese are pissed at Obama and the Feds for the QE2 action.
Just a scenario- China slips within 35 miles of mainland US and shoots a rocket back west into the open ocean. This would be a test first to see if they hit their specified coordinates, testing their targeting ability. Second they would be testing our weak President to see his action or inaction. They would not haven’t broken any international laws that I know of since it is in the open ocean. Plus it would be sending a message to Obama that he better watch his step, so to speak. The Chinese are becoming belligerent by the dollar. They know they are dealing with a lackadaisical commander in chief.
This is why I commented on it. I would like for some trustworthy organization to verify that it was just a plane. I can’t trust the media, or the president, so I was hoping that someone like NORAD or the Pentagon would say it was this or that, but instead all I’ve heard was we don’t know for sure, but it wasn’t a missile. Okay, so what flight number was it?
I have seen ‘similar’ contrails when F-16 (from what used to be Carswell AFB) fly over my area. But I say only similar... I watched the video and sure seemed like a rocket to me.
Maybe the Government just doesn’t want to admit an accidental launching or even a rogue launching. ???

There are some things licensed pilots know to keep mum about just so they keep their licenses. Who's to say others didn't film it? You can be sure if I filmed something that the government was so goofy over as this, I'd lock it away and never speak of it.

That is not accurate. A contrail (condensation trail) does indeed widen on its own with time and can linger for hours depending on atmospheric conditions.
When I saw that film, all I saw was a contrail and a glint off the underbelly of a high altitude aircraft.
They took over Tibet in the 70’s didnt they? Different times, different tactics.
I just don’t believe that if someone launched an ICBM off our coast, near a popular chain of islands that normally have some ship/boat traffic that someone would have heard something.
I havent witnessed missile launches, but I have seen shuttle launches from about 30 miles away. You KNOW that its not an airplane.
Does it make sense that no one has come forward and talked about it. No one? That is the thing that is convincing me. The flight 800 thing had hundreds of witnesses. This one have a guy in a chopper and thats it?
It just doesnt make sense to me.
And then just stop out in front of you with no continuing contrail. /s
Remember those USAF jets that flew across the country with hot nukes? Didn’t it take awhile for that to leak out?
That is not asking him to prove a negative. He claimed those things were knowns. That is a positive. I asked for his source.
What struck me about hte video is that the object is so slow moving.
Another clue is the shadow of the contrail in the sky in the photo you posted. I’ve seen that before, it happens when the shadow, the contrail and the sun are in line with each other. It cannot happen with a vertical missle contrail.

Amazing how I ask what bitching about it is gonna do to change it, and you get pissed about it. It’s obvious what the deal is, yet you just want to keep going on and on and on about it. What’s it gonna change? Nothing. The Pentagon knows what it was, I have no doubt about that. They also don’t want to tell us, I have no doubt about that either. And in another week, nobody will remember this. So what’s the point?

Asking someone to prove something didn’t happen is asking them to prove a negative. :-)
Since the gov sent out "experts" to all the networks to push the unicorn rainbow theory and all the newsies are falling in line with it you would never get on the air anyway. Or do people all of a sudden think the MSM are doing their jobs as independent research organizations?
